As silly as #3fan can get, he does have this point: Gold is recognized for 5000 years or more as 'money', and paper -- bonds, stocks, federal reserve notes -- are a phenomenon of about 100 to 200 years of age.
Gold is and will always be 'money'. Um, unless replicators can fabricate it in the future.

The reason why I like these gold threads is because they degenerate into wild Mad Max scenerios and once they get to that point, you might as well bring up everything that deals with strange, theoretical phenomenom.
