Bad news, Coleman's not winning, but is in the MOE. Good news is that an incumbent not at 50% at this point is in trouble.

What's your view of this? My only concern is that Coleman, a known entity is not more than 43%. But there is hope and my prediction on a Coleman still hands.

The Dem Party's concern over the Wellstone race is evidenced here, in the last paragraph of the initial posting:

RAT ATTACK [Or: The Left is self-destructing as we speak...]

I think this is really encouraging. It's a bad sign for an incumbant senator to be under 50%!

Coleman needs to do some pretty smart stuff this summer...

Thanks for the flag/link!

What's your view of this?

Of course I'd rather see Coleman up by 15 [grin], but I see this as more bad news for Wellstone. This is the fifth poll I've seen since Feb of this year. Wellstone has had marks of 46, 45, 42, 42, and 47%. Coleman's marks were 42, 44, 49, 40 and 43%, respectively. That's an average of 44.4% (W) to 43.6% (C). The breakdown is one GOP poll, one Dem and three media polls. For a well financed, established incumbent, those numbers are bad news indeed. Coleman is a well known name, but he's still the challenger against an incumbent.

It's a horse race, but I still think Wellstone is the 2nd most vulnerable incumbent seat, behind Johnson. (Bob Smith is more vulnerable than Wellstone, IMHO, but his seat is a bit safer due to the strong primary challenge of Sununu.)

Can't be. Everyone knows that democrats are pro-infanticide.

Bye-bye, Wellstone.
Someone needs to tie the Jessie Ventura rock around his neck and let it take him down.

Democrat/Farmer/Labor.

The Farmer/Labor party joined with the Democrats several years ago, and their name was kept.

Actually,I was questioning on another post(I don't have research time) if Wellstoned was connected in any way to Cirrus Industries and that venture up in DuluHut.Cirrus is connected to the same group funding the Caribou Coffee chain....maybe I'll get a bite here.

That may help if he has some donations in his coffer.

If this race is close towards the end, and comes down to the wire. Expect the green vote to hand Coleman a victory

I'm afraid that many of the Green voters will change their minds on election day and come out for Wellstone. This is usually what happens for a lot of third party candidates (like Nader and Perot). They poll quite a bit higher in the weeks and months before than they end up getting because many of their supporters don't want to waste their votes. This effect and the dui story cost dubya the popular vote.
