Watching the Palestinian television broadcasts on Alan Keyes and Hannity & Colmes last week documenting the Palestinians' indoctrination of their children in the glories of death, murder, and martyrdom, I was reminded of the first time a death-obsessed culture went up against the Jewish people.
The tale is recounted in Exodus - the Pharoh is envious of the economic might and talent of the descendants of Abraham living in his kingdom, and so he enslaves them, and a later pharoh attempts to destroy their culture and their ethnic distinctiveness by wiping out infant males.
What became of the death-obsessed ancient Egyptian culture, which once stood alone at the height of ancient civilization?
It was utterly wiped from the face of the earth, leaving only a few dusty relics and some towering monuments to death. Its written language was utterly forgotten, and would still be indecipherable today but for the chance discovery of the Rosetta Stone. And as a spoken language, the modern guessed-at phonetics of the Egyptologists would likely be unintelligible to an actual ancient Egyptian.
Is this what the future holds for those who seek the destruction of Israel and every Jew therein? Time will tell.
Good post. Thanks.
The Bible is correct, the world will hate the Jews, but those who bless Israel will also be blessed. Let's pray that we as a nation continue to bless Israel.
There were no Jews in Egypt, only Israelites. There would be no Jews for another 1,000+ years. While a tiny fraction of Israelites from some of the 12 tribes did much later form the group known as Jews, most Israelites are not Jews. (For details, click on my Profile.)
