McCain: Constitutional amendment to correct Pledge of Alliegance would be quickest in history

Thursday U.S. Senator John McCain, was interviewed on CNN about the 9th Curcuit Court of Appeals decision that the Pledge of Alliegence’s mention of God is unconstituitonal. And here’s what McCain had to say:

“How many buildings in America say, “In God we trust”? If you accept the logic of these judges, these two out of three. Not even the full court, then that (God) should be removed from this dollar bill, God should be removed from public buildings…and if you go down this path it would just be incredible.”

When asked if he thought the decision would be overturned in the courts, McCain responded, “I am totally confident that this will be overturned … and I would support some kind of expression on the part of congress to make sure that there is now doubt in the judge’s mind where the congress and the American people feel.”

McCain was then asked if he would support some kind of constitutional amendment. He said, “That would be fine with me if necessary. I think that would go through the states quicker than any constitutional amendment ever has in history.”

Well, John, if you wouldn't resort to extortion and let GW appoint some Federal Judges we might not be having this discussion...

We don't need another constitutional amendment, Senator McLameBrain.

Like we didn't need one when Poppy Bush tried to push an anti-US flag burning constitutional amendment down everyones' throats.

Remember when Bush SR carried the banner for a flag burning amendment? Politics in this country are a joke.

I get a little concerned when I hear people advocate the amending of the Constitution in response to perverse or poor interpretations by judges.

It is as if they feel the Constitution has to be "dumbed down."

If the U.S. Constitution has to be "dumbed down" so judges, lawyers, polititians, and citizens can understand it, or even worse, changed to fit their own particular agenda, then we are in worse trouble than we thought.

This is probably the opening salvo on 'Under God'. Next 'One Nation' as not 'diversified'. But use it or lose it. How are we doing following our allegiance - One Nation, Under God?

OPENING PRAYER - KANSAS STATE SENATE

When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of
the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities,
but this is what they heard:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your
forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know
Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good," but that is
exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We confess that:

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and
called it Pluralism.

We have exploited the poor and called it the Lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it
building self-esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it
ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and
called it freedom of speech.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers
and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us
from every sin and set us free.

Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to
direct us to the center of Your will and to openly ask
these things in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Has McLame been to home to AZ to give any emotional support for the fires?

One would think that McCain would do the responsible thing and let the case itself run it's course through the judicial system before getting worked up about changing the Constitution.

But that gets less votes.

I'd like an amendment which repeals the 16th 17th and 19th amendments.

Memo to McCain:

Go wrap yourself in someone else's flag and someone else's God.

Right on!

Frankly, I'd like to see all of 'em after 15 repealed.

Well not the one that repeals prohibition also in repealing the 19th I'd also like to restrict the franchise to wealthy property owners.

Repeal ALL of 'em past 15. Liquor was abolished by the 18th; the 18th was repealed by the 21st. Last I checked, 18 (just like 21) comes after 15. ;-)

also in repealing the 19th I'd also like to restrict the franchise to wealthy property owners.

I have no idea what you mean by that.
