| REP. YOUNG SAYS NINTH CIRCUIT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPLIT LONG AGO http://www.house.gov/donyoung/press/p20020626_2.htm |
| Washington, D.C. - Alaska Congressman Don Young issued the following statement on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision to rule the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional: "This is just another example of why the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals does not serve the people of Alaska. I have been trying for years to split the Ninth Circuit into two separate circuits - separate from Alaska. This just reinforces my belief that justice isnt served by its liberal bias. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals obviously doesnt understand the meaning of God," said Rep. Young. |

I'm just curious, what does he mean by that statement?
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other."- John Adams, Oct. 11, 1798 Address
IMPEACH THE RASCALS! ROUTE THE VIPERS OUT!
Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence--which prominently mentions "God" and "Creator" and "Supreme Judge of the World"--was a Deist, not a Christian. A Deist would be one who is not certain of the truth of the cosmos, similar to what we call "agnostic" today with one vital exception: He is sure that there IS a Supreme Being: God. Although he is not at all convinced of the exact nature of that great Being.
As I've stated before, I as a "Mormon" have a profoundly different view of God than that of most of the Chrisian sects, or a Jew, or a Muslim, or a Hindu, or a Deist, etc.
But the concept of "GOD", of a supreme Creator, is common to all those faiths.
This is what is astounding to me: Because of the vanishingly tiny minority, those who militantly believe in NO such being, everyone else has to be discomfitted, even offended. We have to have questioned the very founding principles of our great Republic.
This is so ridiculous on the face of it, that every time I consider it I am just dumbfounded.
I hereby pledge to do my utmost to reinforce this notion in the minds of my elected officials. I am sorry if it is "offensive" to a nihilist who believes in nothing more than total dissolution and the ultimate meaninglessness of existence, but I'm afraid that if SOMEONE has to be inconvenienced, it is going to have to be him.
His wife, Ramona Ripston, is the long-time head of the LA Chapter of the ACLU. She is a real piece of work as well.
As I recall, Reinhardt has had about 27 of his decisions appealed to the Supreme Court and 25 have been overturned. He has the worst record of any judge in the federal appeals court system.
The concept of "GOD" is common to all faiths (that is, all mainstream faiths - there are some weird ones here in California). Most people I know who don't worship any particular religion, believe in the supreme creator God. I say most because I haven't asked all of them.
