On radio and TV, a growing number of ads are beseeching the public to thank or spank a particular candidate.

What's noteworthy about all of those ads? The candidates claim to have had nothing to do with them.

In Missouri, most of the ads target either Sen. Jean Carnahan, a Democrat, or her likely Republican rival, former Rep. Jim Talent.

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; US: Missouri
KEYWORDS: carnahan; senaterace; talent
- - the independent ads accentuate the national importance of the Carnahan-Talent contest.

"All politics are local". Unfortunately, U.S. Senators think all of the U.S.A. is their local playground in which they can control any aspect of your life. The Talent-Carnahan race will be very close, and as indicated will be very important to who controls the Senate - and that is important to all of us, wherever we live. Any help he can get would be appreciated.

The group's ad lauds the senator for protecting "America, home of the red, white and blue," by her votes, such as her opposition to drilling on public lands in Alaska.

The people of Missouri should amend that ad to read as follows:

"America, home of the red, white, blue and GREEN, but definitelt not GOD, thanks to leftist judges which are backed by Carnahan and her support for Leahy.

How did Jean make out with the death tax when her hubby died?

I think that the death tax does not apply to inheritance by a spouse, at least if they have had the good sense to put everything in joint custody. The problem comes when both parent are dead and the property passes to the next generation. In any case, the death tax is wrong and tinkering with it to exclude some arbitrary level of assets, even if it is $millions, is still wrong. The bottom line is that Jean Carnahan will do what the Democrat leadership tells her to do, and she nmeeds to be replaced.
