Why do the whiners of and about the Constitution begin their whinings at the signing of the document (the letter of the law), rather than spending some energy of what slack mental matter they show about the COMPLETE history of why and how the document was put together?

Uh, okay. But just because they wanted THAT church out, don't mean they wanted YOUR church in. Besides, it was just fine for 178 years, until the Knights of Columbus got a wild hair.

None of it is about the UK. The gentleman in the minds of the Founders was Louis XIV, the King of France. The First, Second and Third Amendments are primarily about protecting Protestants from a king or President using organized religion, specificialy Catholicism, to justify oppression.

Interesting that the people who go about violating those amendments, these two judges in particular, strike all of us as having the nature of the "Sun King"!

Teachers should find the page in the Congressional Record from 1954 where the Pledge is codified. They should then have their students recite this historic act of Congress each morning.

As far as I know a court would have a difficult time ordering a State to cease recitation of acts of the Congress.

The Knights of Columbus got the idea and pushed it through Congress. Deal with it.

The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, as
interpreted by the courts.  Until this issue
reaches the SC, the 9th Court, in its jurisdiction,
can certainly order the State to do cease recitation
of acts of Congress as surely as they can ban
prayer in public schools.

Did you read my entire diatribe? The essence of the idiocy of the arrogance of the European Aristocracy/Monarchial rule of the era, regardless of which arrogant pus-filled King or Queen is the point.
For you to attempt to point out only one idiot ruler of European realms is as baseless as their claims on the colonial goods.

You, sir, have a clue...

And the Knights of Columbus have presented this nation with what accomplishments?

You are in a fine rant tonight.  I pointed out the
fact that the KC initiated the shoehorning of
god into the pledge and the insults began.  Now
you are offended?    Spare me, please.
I'm just a poor frat boy.

Then my suggestion is to make them so order rather than roll over and assume that they will. It would be interesting to see them order that the Congressional Record not be recited in class. If they did so rule then I would bring in a video tape of the Congress reciting the pledge TODAY on nationwide television and make the court force me to stop that also.

If the people are unwilling to take the courts ruling to its ridiculous conclusions and highlight its ridiculousness then they deserve whatever the court wants to do to them.

Louis was directly responsible for running off Protestants from France to America. If they didn't run off, he had them killed.

The Founders (many of whom were of Huguenot origins) were much more concerned with Louis, who was very recent history, than with my more ancient relatives such as Henry VIII.

Try as you might, there are folks around here with sufficient knowledge of European history to prevent the "English Filter" from consuming everything!

Are you sure it was only in reference to the French? Excellent point, but I still maintain that the usurpation of a religious tone by Henry VIII to create his own religion, a.k.a. the Church of England, whether Protestant or not, was a major part of the Declaration.

I find your point valid. I think the Founders were sufficiently aware that they did not want a Church of America any more than they wanted a Church of England.
