FBI director speech stirs debate [American Muslim Council]

FBI Director Robert Mueller is coming under fire from Jewish groups for agreeing to deliver a speech to a group that supports Hamas and Hezbollah.

The American Muslim Council, which is holding a four-day convention beginning Thursday, has urged members to contribute to the Holy Land Foundation and the Global Relief Foundation, two charities whose assets were frozen by the Bush administration for alleged ties to terrorists.

FBI officials said Mueller agreed to make a speech Friday because the council is considered "mainstream."

The American Jewish Committee lashed out at the planned speech, saying it gives legitimacy to terror groups that threaten both the United States and Israel. The group has sent a letter to Mueller asking him not to give the speech.

The controversy comes amid efforts by the Bush administration to reach out to the American Muslim community after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

Maybe he can get off the hook by claiming he is speaking to the "American Museum Council?" Hey, it worked for Hillary.

Somewhere in one of the Steve Emerson links is a statement that the FBI sent a spokesperson to an Islamic conference in America.  The FBI man spoke to the Mu/slims about Muslims in America, completely unaware that the people he spoke to were plainly intent on Jihad against America.  The Muslims laughed out loud in his face and the FBI man apparently didn't know why.

that's sheer stupidity and I don't care what sort of spin doctoring is done on it ... if the FBI thinks this is going to ingratiate them with radical Islamic groups, they might as well be playing the "Clue" board game to protect America ... the terrorists must be laughing their tails off ...
