Israel - Would-be suicide bombers targeted a nuclear weapons warehouse

Six Palestinians arrested this week near Beit Shemesh were on their way to carry out a suicide attack at a warehouse where nuclear bombs and Jericho surface-to-surface missiles are stored, Army Radio reports today.

The radio, quoting the British Foreign Report, says the attack was thwarted by the Shin Bet, which set off warnings and captured the suspects on Monday.

Security officials were quoted as denying the report, the radio said.

Foreign reports have alleged that Israel stores these weapons in a depot near Moshav Zecharya, not far from Beit Shemesh.

Didn't see this little item posted. The absence of terror is not the cessation of terror attempts.

I don't know what the British Foreign Report is.

I had an idle thought the other day... It would be sort of a terrorist trap.

We'd have to build a big ominous building in Jerusalem. It'd have just one entrance. Lights would be cut on and off at night by timer. Signs would proclaim it to be the American office of top secret anti Islamic anti Palestine investigation or something else inflammatory like that. Nobody (American/Israeli) would ever be seen going in or out of the building and the IDF would give it a wide berth. No guards would be posted to keep the curious away. Rumors would be spread that many unarmed Americans who hated Palestine were inside and that they used the Koran for toilet paper. The entrance would not allow for peeking in- anybody who was curious to see what was inside would have to go in. Once people went in- they would never be heard from again.

Sort of a Stephen King type political haunted house. Not an idea- just an idle thought that popped into my head and back out in a few seconds time. The line in your article about the warehouse being rumored/alleged to store nukes reminded me of it.

Interesting article. The idea that Israel stores it's nuclear weapons in a warehouse that can be reached on foot is ridiculous. That would be like an article detailing the attempted theft of America's gold supply from Fort Knox by a guy on a skate board, in daylight.

But when I thought about it, I think it would be a GREAT idea to store some nulcear weapons in an open, unguarded wharehouse smack in the middle of the West Bank. Just leave them there, armed, with proximity sensors.
