MITCHELL, S.D. (Wireless Flash) -- It might not be any of his business but a marijuana-loving Canadian shaman is taking credit for the kooky way the stock market has been acting lately.
Doug Pederson claims that the current stock volatility is directly related to a curse he put on participating countries of the United Nations back in January, 2000, after they refused to legalize pot.
Pothead Pederson made the curse with the help of four sacred stones that he claims are the America's equivalent to the Holy Grail.
He claims the stones caused an elevator in the Empire State Building to collapse and now they'll do the same for the stock market, unless pot is legalized.
In fact, he's scheduling the crash for around two months from now -- which he says leaves plenty of time for the U.N. to change its weed rules.

Yeah I saw it. Legalizing hemp( many industrial uses) and dismantling the 50 billion dollar( I think) WOD apparatus would help the economy.

While I fully support the legalization of cannabis, I cannot support the use of evil spirits, mojo, or the Dark Side⢠in the pursuit of such legalization. Next thing you know them hemp heads will be reading Harry Potter to their kids!

But if marijuana were legalized in the US then where would the government get the funding that it now obtains through current forfeiture laws (where they get to keep the confiscated property even if no charges are ever filed).

The asset forfeitures don't turn a profit though profit=revenues-expenses and the expenses are much higher. It does however buy votes with taxpayer money always a popular thing with politicians and also the reason I want a monarchy.

Asa? No, that's a bit extreme, I think. For Barry McCaffrey I'd make an exception, though.

Irrespective of whether one believes this piece of gibberish, one can't but help admire the altruistic thought processes of a man who considers that the financial security of millions should be subordinate to his own need for sensory pleasure.

Doug Pederson Isn't/Wasn't he the back up quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
Note to take-every-comment-too-literal morons: Yes, I actually realize that these are two different people.

Pat Robertson said God sent hurricanes to Florida to punish it for gay people at Disney World. You never know about these things. Legalize pot just to be safe. And please no gay people on the tea cup ride.

Didn't Oral Roberts try this kind of blackmail a few years back? I don't know about it being the stock market - this was a while ago, but I seem to recall it had something to do with a 900-foot Jesus laying waste to Oklahoma, or some such. Said waste-laying to be averted by generous donations to the Oral Roberts Ministry, of course ;)

This ain't nothing new the United States has has several Industries and corporation CEO's that have taken over goverment by tales of woe if their demands weren't met. What laws they want they get. None however have matched the clout of which the Insurance or Underwritters Business has over many or rather now most local, state, and federal laws, codes, and policies. As well it has without a doubt had significant impact on the high cost of production and decrease in our gross national product.

The stock market is reacting the way it is for several reasons. It has been correcting itself plus the average person is leary of investing because of the past. The average person now realizes the corruption, insider trading, overpaid CEOs and knows the government will not mess with whitecollar criminals. After past revelations the average person is foolish if he buys stock until the government really steps up and does something about these past messes.
