MATT DRUDGE: MORNING SLEDGEHAMMER-- What'dya think?
Posted on 06/25/2002 8:58:03 AM PDT by Cinnamon Girl
Who heard Matt these past two mornings on KFI in LA? I thought he was really good. He had a lot more energy than he does on Sunday nights, plus the show was more grounded, without so many spaced out moments brought on by crazy callers.

Did you hear him?
To: Cinnamon Girl
I just wish he'd stop acting like he's actually from LA, or has any grip on the issues here.

I agree with you, with the notable exception of that ridiculous format with which Drudge was forced to suffer from 7-8 on Monday. I dunno, either it is a Monday thing, or someone told them to can it -- but it wasn't there Tuesday.
You know what I mean. Handel apparently likes the self-loathing concept of putting 3 guys together to rip each others' statements apart (no matter what is actually said) and give 100% negative feedback, a la seventh grade boys. Yecccch. He gets to be grand pooh-bah, knower of all factoids and witty banter, at the expense of the other two? I don't know. No wonder I won't listen to him. Who wants to hear that crap in the morning.
Other than that, Drudge was great. I actually got up in the 5 o'clock hour to listen for two days -- and that's really saying something for me.

I listened as much as my workload permitted.......
From what I could tell, he wasn't as "angry" as he is most of the time on Sunday night.

when is he on KFI? - new show? - have they gotten rid of John & Ken yet?---PHIL HENDRIE RULES!

I just wish he'd stop acting like he's actually from LA,
what irritates me are the pinhead news readers in L.A. that keep calling the area "Socal". No one I know in 50 years of living in L.A., calls L.A. "socal" - only Tom Leykis and other pretty boys

Drudge was excellent this morning.. Very, Very funny also. But what do I know.. He was ripping everybody. Even had a few kind words for Rosie.. I loved it. And I like Handel's morning show. I wish Drudge would get a daily slot.
To: Cinnamon Girl
Bump... I listened on and off the last two mornings. My first thought on monday morning was he needs a daily gig. I liked it!
I also agree with others here that thought his morning talk was much better than the sunday night talk.
When he's on again, other than his usual sunday night show, ping and post the link...I wouldn't want to miss it.

I enjoyed the show 100%. I set my alarm for 5am and listened to the entire show both days. Matt is such a funny guy with an edge, that he makes Radio fun.

PHIL HENDRIE RULES!
I thought he was hysterical for the first 2,3 weeks I heard him but after that I think he sucks. Gets old real fast.
To: Joy Angela; Matt Drudge
Hey, Matt, why can't you sub for Handel permanently?
To: Cinnamon Girl
So, Cinnamon Girl. You might think this is cute!
On a Sunday evening not to long ago, a young girl left a wrong number message on my phone machine. "Hi, is this 555-3997?...(then talking to a friend with her) I KNOW Matt Drudge is on, Oh, I LOVE Matt Drudge, I'll be off in a second! ) Oh well, if it's you call me back, if it's not you I guess you won't"
And she hung up. Right then and there I had to face the cruel reality...girls and woman everywhere are dreaming of Matt.
Yes, Cinnamon Girl it's oh so true....

Just so it doesn't go unsaid (I see people talking lavishly about Hendrie ALL the time) -- I can't STAND that show. Joking on people who don't know it's a joke.. the fact that you can always tell it's him and only an idiot wouldn't be able to figure it out.. I don't know what it is. That is like fingernails to a blackboard to me. I do admit he is talented, voice-wise.
It doesn't help that I remember seeing a KTTV piece on Hendrie a year or two ago, and all these dopey Hollyweirdos were praising him saying they never miss a show. Yeah I believe Bridget Fonda rushes home every night to listen to the Phil Hendrie show on AM radio.

To: Cinnamon Girl
Go, Drudge! I have a lot of respect for the man.
To: lainie
Amen to that, lainie. Hendrie is funny for about 30 seconds. He has such self-loathing and contempt for his audience. And I also don't think it's hilarious to deceive people.
