Congressman's "Border Initiative" exposes racist connections By One People's Project An anti-immigration congressman is maintaining some ties to some racist organizations in an effort to push forward an initiative to put federal troops on the border to stem the flow of those entering the US. Rep. Tom Tancredo
Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, and several members of the Caucus called on the President to immediately deploy troops along the U.S. border, something that they called a "major border protection initiative." In a unclassified briefing on homeland security attended by Caucus members, Tom Ridge, Director of Homeland Security told Members of Congress that there were "cultural and historical" reasons for not putting troops on the border temporarily while the "reorganization" takes place. The Caucus meanwhile has been urging supporters to sign a petition they posted June 11 that urges the President to act on the troop initiative. Tancredo says that since that day the White House has been "overwhelmed" by emails from his supporters. "It's about time they realize that the people of this country justifiably feel that the U.S. border is a sieve," Tancredo said. "It poses a real threat to our security and ignoring this fact represents the most egregious evidence that the federal government is shirking its responsibility to the people of this nation."
The petition however, began to set off alarms when white supremacists started promoting it in emails to their comrades. One such email praised the initiative saying, "It's far from the ultimate remedy to our problems but would give us years of precious time to organize to restore our homelands to white rule." Although this does not suggest that Tancredo and the Immigration Reform Caucus has solicited this support, the Caucus website suggests otherwise. On the home page are links to white supremacist/separatist websites such as Project USA, California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR), and VDARE.
VDARE's webmaster, Peter Brimelow, has called for America to maintain a "link by blood" and remain mostly white. He has been repudiated by conservatives such as Wall Street Journal Editor Robert Bartley and Latino groups such as La Raza. The CCIR is headed up by Barbara Coe, who herself has had links to the Council of Conservative Citizens (C of CC) and the Ku Klux Klan. Another site linked for the Carrying Capacity Network (CCN) lists C of CC member Virginia Abernethy as on its Board of Advisors, and yet another link is for the Federation for American Immigration Reform. This group is headed up by John Tanton, who along with Wayne Lutton wrote a racist book called The Immigration Invasion. Both believe that not only aliens should be kept from crossing the border, those that have, illegal or otherwise should be deported.
The Caucus site says has the standard disclaimer that the views expressed on these sites are not necessarily those of the Caucus or Tom Tancredo. The congressman, however has been called out for being in the company of those who put sites like these up. In 1994 he spoke before the Guardians of American Liberty, a group listed as a "militia group with links to anti-Semitic organizations" by the Southern Poverty Law Center. It was there he said, ``I also must tell you that I believe with all my heart that there is a conflict in our culture today that is so very deep, and so very significant that it'll be played out really in one of two ways,'' Tancredo said at that event. ``It will be played out either at the ballot box or in the streets. That is how basic the division is.'' This was brought up during his run for congress but it didn't matter to the voters in his district, which is 85% white, and he won his seat easily. The American Nationalist Union, a racist group out of Pennsylvania, heralded his victory in their newspaper the Nationalist Times by writing, "When this new legislator takes his seat in the House of Representatives, Americans --- particularly white Americans who face racial extinction from out-of-control Third World immigration --- can give him the mandate to fulfill his promises by flooding his office with daily support for his goals."
Rep. Tancredo has not distanced himself from his past or current associations, and it puts the anti-immigrant petition he is peddling in a different light.
La Raza commenting on someone being discriminatory or racist is the pot calling the kettle black. I'll take sides against them in any argument, but this one is common sense that is obviously not so common.
Liberals just hate it when someone speaks the truth.
"Or"? I think "and". My guess is that it will be the former, followed by the latter in a very short period of time.
How can it be racist to stop illegal immigration ?
Do they think there going to let the white illegals in only?
And that too is a very proable senerio.
There is good news in this article - it means Tancredo is getting some followers and getting the world out.
