The following email is being circulated to our members by various disgruntled former FReepers:
Subject: The Future of Our Free RepublicDear Fellow Free Republic Member,
Many of us at Free Republic are distressed by the extraordinary level of censorship that has been so obviously going on. It is very obvious that individual posts, entire threads, and the entire work of members who have been highly regarded are disappearing into a Memory Hole.
Scores of us have organized an e-mail network that is independent of the communication controls presently, and sadly, being used at our Free Republic. We have carefully documented the unmistakeable evidence that most of the posts, threads, and posters that are vaporized completely are overwhelmingly targeted for their political stance on the Right. These are not Leftwingers. These are not even Middle-of-the-Roaders. These are not disruptors. These are not foul-mouthed delinquents. These are fellow patriots on the Right who disagree with the controllers of FR on specific issues that are now hotly debated by the Right. We have documented that FR will parade before you, as if to hide all of the great posters whose work has been destroyed, a straw-man delinquent that has been banned. This is deceptive.
Treating these fellow patriots on the Right so shabbily is not right. As shabbily as those banned into the Memory Hole are being treated, the most shabbily treated of all are all of the good folks on Free Republic themselves. We came here for honest debate. Free Republic advertised itself as a Forum for honest debate. Without that honest debate...everything at Free Republic becomes shabby.
We can do much better. As a measure of how intense the simmering feelings have gotten among members on this unjustifiable use of deleting, censoring, and banning please link to the following thread. You will notice that one simple and sincere plea from one of our finest members has spontaneously touched off a prairie fire of approximately 500 posts in a mere 18 hours. If it isn't Memory Holed this thread may shoot into the thousands.
If you would like to receive anonymous updates of information concerning the hundreds of Freepers who have networked via e-mail to restore the wonderful honest debate to Free Republic, just drop an e-mail of just one or two words if you like for extreme brevity to:

You guys are missing the point. "Whatever..." has been a often used response of Jim Robinson.
I think I may have made a statement that they are all the enemy, and I do believe that you cannot live peacefully with the enemy amongst you, and perhaps I may have made statements that others were banned for, one will never know. One can make a statement that 'the enemy should be destroyed' without being banned, so it is a matter of opinion, nothing more.
Those who want them banned aren't bringing all sides into the discussion. After all, I have not seen any Amish folk strapping grenades to their children lately, just to make a point.
Besides, I enjoyed when CommonTater would go on a rant, as a disruptor, but then I had the chance to put him/her in their place with common sense and logic. Isn't the reason for the board to persuade others to your point of view? I think all liberals should be banned, but what fun would that be?

Yes, I believe GWB knew about the 9/11 attack in advance -- you lump of rock -- and yes I believe he (and the whole Establishment that he is a high part of) either directly participated or stepped aside and allowed it to happen. What could be more clear from my posts? In the post you pulled that quote from I also say: "'Criminally negligent' doesn't even begin to cover what I think GW was/is..." I flat out said it more than 20 posts ago, yet you go on and on accusing me of being evasive. Are you blind from chewing gum?!

Look, friend...there is no such thing as a "100% crazy about President Bush" crowd. I have been on exactly ONE of those (AND enjoyed it immensely, I freely admit) 'a day in the life' threads.
Therefore, I am obviously not one of the people who hang out on those threads. I do not agree with President Bush. You can still (I think) search my screen name and know I am not one of the posters who hang out on those "a day in the life' threads....
Yet I am still considered a 'Bushbot' by some......WHY IS THAT????

(1) You're not above using the epithets of your favorite pseudo-America first crowd i.e, "Israel Firsters" type accusations;
(2) You implicitly suggest that Cachelot had something to do with your brother's demise from FR.
Hence you display the paranoid fantasies of the whiner crowd in their "Zionist" accusations. Maybe just post like a grown up and quit trying to play defence lawyer for your brother. You might like a life on FR without the whining machine on.

I personally think the grading of comments is unnecessary--I don't get involved with it, either doing grading or using it. If I find comments by a poster good and I'd like to follow them to learn more, I type their name in the search engine to find threads. A comment that is dumb--I ignore. There are posters, I'm sure, who at least have a reasoned approach for liking it--perhaps to weed out the 'mundane' from more quality commentary.
BTW, people can change the levels at which they see posts so I don't know what your bitch is there. You can change all sorts of things on your profile page...course you have to be a member.
As to your being approached not to say anything, are you trying to tell us you were advised the forum is semi-secret and it wants to weed out the trash and only cater to people who hate Jews? If so, then you are more gullible than I thought and you should question your friends!<> There are threads over there explaining all sorts of stuff....of course, you have to read them. I and others have already explained on this thread about the beta software, etc. To get full use of the forum, you must be registered--just like here at FR. The only thing I know about that is anywhere close to 'secret' are moderator action threads...and I believe those are brought out in the public later, after a crisis is averted.
If you look at the 'Who's Online' feature, a lot of times there are more anonymous readers than actual members! LOL.....who's kidding who! I've seen upwards of 15 anonymous people on at a time. Secret? Hardly.
Is Liberty Forum for everybody? Probably not....different strokes for different folks seems an appropriate phrase. If one prefers a little more independent thought and lively debate,give it a try. OTOH, if you prefer the safe and comfortable environment where 'right on' rules, the person should probably look elsewhere. :)

What paranoid fanasies. Raimondo's name has been dragged through the mud here for writing on the Israeli spy ring here in the United States prior to Sept 11. Well, Barbara Walters ran with the story last week. It's in the mainstream media. Raimondo is owed an apology. And my brother didn't deserve to get booted off the forum for posting an article praising Free Republic because Raimondo just happened to write it.
That's right on. LF for the most part has a self-regulated Containment situation regarding posts. Some posts get NO replies or comments and that's fine. I pass by the ones I don't care to become involved on, and others do the same. Some I read just as news value.
It's right at the top of the article how many views the thread has had, like FR used to do. I particularly like that openness, it shows where folks interest are. And obviously, LF doesn't have nearly the readers that FR has.
BTW, I'm STILL unsure why Black Jade had every bit of her posting deleted from FR. I didn't notice any unreasonableness in any of it, and from what I noted when she started posting on LF, she was at a loss as well.
I do believe her total wipeout on FR chilled some very good research posters on FR, even though they have not been warned about posting any material. They just don't want to lose a lot of research work they've done.
I will agree on the last part.
But now we have "Heart Land" Security.
