A note to the people who read this thread because they hope and pray that Elizabeth will be returned to her family and who wish to stay up to date with the facts in the case. Please do not let yourself get sucked into a heavy discussion or argument from someone who wishes to come in to this thread and makes a post that will disrupt this thread. I saw a portion of the interview with the officer. Didn't appear to have obvious signs of being shot. He did mention the first round grazed his arm and head...had to tend to supper so wasn't able to hear the remaining explanation.

Based on nothing but a 'feel', I agree with you. He just doesn't seem like the right person. An accomplice, maybe, but not the type capable of the smooth planning and acting required to pull off this kidnapping.

Ricci is the guy. He failed his lie-detector test and apparently has harbored anger at the parents

he may have failed his poly but his employer seems to think he is a good worker who never sits down, and he was on time for work on the morning of the abduction....

also, his father in law was on Banfield and he vouched for him, and said him and the neighbors have all told the police that Ricci was home that night...

of course, that is just media info....don't know if it is true or not

but even though Ricci is a "good" suspect,I can't believe that it is him just yet....they need to find some hair or fiber in his car...

one other thing,,,he supposedly left on good terms from the employment of the Smart's

It shouldn't be too difficult for the police to determine if Ricci wears this type of hat. Family, friends, acquaintances, co-workers, former cell mates, picture albums, etc. No doubt, with all the coverage, the abductor has disposed of all the clothing mentioned in the media, including the hat. But the hat is not that common and the abductor likely wore it during everyday activities. Ricci's baldness would make him a likely candidate to wear a hat for protection from the sun and cold. The question is, is Ricci known to wear that style of hat?

How bad did he hurt the officer?

the policeman was on Banfield...he said he responded to a robbery at a pharmacy...he came up to Ricee and told him to lay down his gun....Ricci made some move and the cop shot twice,,then Ricci fired a round in the cop's direction....it first hit his hand, then shoulder,and then the top of his head...

I liked that cop....he said Ricci was a druggie...he also said he is looking for proof to exonerate him from the smart abduction or proof to convict him..

I saw the interview with the parents this evening on the local news. The mother said that he was a good person, who would never hurt anyone, and she hadn't even seen him hurt anyone. Someone snorted in the background, and she hastily amended her statement to mean that he had never hurt her.

bridget....I think I am agreeing with you ...I don't know if Ricci is the man....he has people that are vouching for him...

this is a very sad case...I felt so bad for Lois this am when she was retelling the story of Elizbeths' horse mishap...

I'll give you one of my personal opinions...but I am not looking to debate it.

Ricci worked in the home for 2 to 3 months at least. Mary K would have recognized this mans voice and so would have Elizabeth. The guy has been in custody for a week and police have been crawling all over him for the last week, so I am sure that they have taped the mans voice and played it to Mary K. Also Mary K probably seen enough of the man (a profile) to know who he is and if he (Ricci) was the guy in the bedroom that night. I am sure they have had him pose in different hats and clothes and took pictures and presented them to Mary K. (this is how police work...)

If he was the guy, I think that Mary K. would have fingered him already and they would have him under arrest for Elizabeth's kidnapping.

The person that took Elizabeth is probably someone that worked in the house or had been in the house many times on a social visit. He had soley one purpose to enter the house and that was to take Elizabeth. I also believe it is someone (non-family) that knows the family and is actively working and helping in the search for her.

I know about all the facts in the case that the media is reporting, along with what the police publically tell us. All this has been considered in and what I based my opinion on. Now I am not saying he does not know who took her or why but he is not the one that was in the house that night holding the gun.

Yep. He tried to kill a police officer during an armed robbery of a pharmacy, he shot the officer in the face with a saed off shotgun. He only served fifteen years for that offense. The innocent people (and children) are paying with their lives and innocence for society's stupid experiments.

This guy has proven to be a menace to society, and was let out of jail..Did they think he was rehabilitated? All it did was give him time to learn more insane ideas from other hard lined criminals. Pray that they find her today alive.

They have not found her body and I still feel the person who took her was fascinated her.

Being that they haven't found her body as yet, they might have taken her out of the area..

Nancy Grace was on and so was Dr Lee. Nancy Grace made a statement about Ricci's fingerprints being in the house (potentially.) Geragos jumped in with his "well, you don't know when those fingerprints were made, yada yada yada." Nancy Grace very coolly said that if his fingerprints were in Elizabeth's bedroom, that would be pretty damning. Geragos was smirking, I changed the channel. I'll do a lot of things, but one thing I won't subject myself to is Mark Geragos sliming everyone in sight...

he does have violent acts in the past...remember he was into drugs....don't know if he has changed but he has a good rapport with his father in law and his employer

as far as the media has uncovered so far, he does not have any "history" with children....

however,,,that only means he hasn't been caught

now here is a bag of worms....would you consider Elizabeth a child as in pedophilia or would you consider her a young teenager?...I heard someone on the tv say that actually girls Elizabeth's age were more at risk than little ones
