[history]
Detectives investigating the disappearance of 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart have been questioning a handyman who they say confessed to burglarizing the Smart home last year.
The man, Richard Albert Ricci, was arrested on an unrelated parole violation June 14, police spokesman Fred Louis said. That was nine days after Elizabeth was reportedly taken at gunpoint from her bedroom in an affluent Salt Lake City neighborhood.

this case gets weirder and weirder

I heard the report on Fox before the press conference, about Ricci burglarizing the Smart home, but it was not covered in the press conference.

There's a daily thread on Elizabeth Smart's disappearance
here if you want to come join the discussion. And here is a picture of Ricci, a real upstanding looking guy.

Ping.
What does "can't pin down" mean. Meaning his story conflicts? Or he was sleeping ((like 200 million others) but alone without witnesses?

He's not as much of a looker as Darrell Condit...

That none of Ricci's alibis check out. First he said he was in a substance abuse clinic the morning Elizabeth was abducted, not true. He keeps changing his alibis, and none are true.

Darryl Condit IS quite the catch, isn'yt he??? LOL!
Off topic....Gary Condit gave his staffers HUGE raises right afterthe Levy scandal broke. Saw it on C-Span with a gal from Roll Call. They made MUCH MUCH more than other staffers. Hush Money???

ROTFLMAO!

With the feds questioning the guy in the West VA hospital, I kept thinking, Nicholas Cage wudda shot his toe off to get him to talk, (a la "Guarding Tess").
Big oops! FOXNews just announced he had absolutely nothing to do with the abduction.
They also announced Ricci failed a lie detector test. Which leads me to think, there's no way in hell he isn't connected to this kidnapping.............or could there be two sets of felons familiar with the interior of the Smart house? Just can't imagine such a coincidence.
But with Ricci not talking after a week of questioning, and you know it's been intense, Elizabeth's survival doesn't seem possible.

Failed a lie detector? Sounds bad - but broad, but depends on what questions he failed.

Try as I might to keep up with this twisting tale, one thing keeps confusing me. Originally the younger girl claimed to have SEEN the man and the gun. Then she said she saw his shoes and arms, not his face. But they're still talking about the gun. Is she still saying she saw a gun? Was it or was it not "at gunpoint?"
Color me confused.

...and wierdest and more horrible by the day. I have a sinking feeling that this is the brute.

The polygraph is junk science. Why we continue to use it is beyond my understanding.

I agree with you that Elizabeth's well-being is between slim and none at this time IMHO.

To be honest and I probably have no right to say this...but from the beginning it seemed so strange that her sister who is 9 after all could not be more forthcoming than she is. I mean 9 year olds are tough and smart at that age. They are aware and wise in many things. How come this little sister is so ..well...confused? Then again they are Mormon(?) and maybe that makes it all different.

Also, in my opinion he appears much older than what the sister has described. He does not even look clean-cut!
