Just found out that the National Education Association is meeting next week, June 30 thru July 5, at the Dallas Convention Center. Does anybody here plan to be there to protest the NEA's policies?

Yes, it does sound like an excellent FReep! I know we are all so busy, and it's going to be hotter than H..., but how about some ideas here for signs, for organizing, etc? I've done two FReeps in Dallas -- during the Presidential debacle of 2000. Also, I went out all by myself (except for one of my friends who stood with me for a while, and one passer-by who could spare a half-hour) and protested the Gays Against Scouting last year. I got on TV and radio, too. Even one voice raised in opposition can be powerful.
My home is pretty far from Dallas, but I could dedicate a few hours during the NEA convention to express my opposition to them. They have far too much political power, and far too little real concern for children and their families. They want to force the teaching of "tolerance" for gays and the labeling of religious people as "bigots".
I wonder how many people in the Dallas area would be available and willing to get out and carry signs? This is the time to influence the political landscape and the elections in November. We need more family-friendly, freedom-loving politicians if we want a better educational system.

This is WORTH freeping....ask them about their global warmimg or pro-abortion policies....that have NOTHING to do with education.
