New York has about 1.75 million Jews
The leader of a militant Jewish group says he is going ahead with plans to mount armed patrols after the FBI warned of possible terror attacks against Jewish schools and synagogues.
Rabbi Yakove Lloyd said 50 people were planning to take part in the patrols, set to begin in the Brooklyn area of New York on Sunday.
"Those of us who have shotguns and/or rifles have permits"

The New York Police Department said any armed vigilantes would be arrested.
But Rabbi Lloyd, who leads the Jewish Defence Group, told the BBC that his followers were ready to face arrest if necessary.
"No charges can ever stick because we are legally allowed to assemble according to the first amendment [of the US constitution] and all our guns are registered legally," he told BBC World Service radio's World Today programme.
"The police can't be everywhere, so we feel we're going to be there, we'll be at specific Jewish institutions and places that they can't be at," he said.
Previous attempt
Earlier this month, Rabbi Lloyd abandoned his first attempt to send patrols onto the streets of Brooklyn, after what he called an overwhelmingly negative response from the Jewish community, and police threats to arrest gun-toting civilians.
Rabbi Lloyd denied that his followers were vigilantes, saying he preferred to call them "activists". The New York Police Department says it will deal with the terror threat by adding extra patrols to synagogues and Jewish neighbourhoods.
Mainstream Jewish American leaders are taking a decidedly cautious approach. They are encouraging extra vigilance, but urging their communities not to overreact.
The Bush administration has frequently warned Americans that their country is in grave danger of further attacks.
In May, a birthday party for New York's Brooklyn Bridge had to be cancelled after warnings of possible attacks on American landmarks.
In a recent Time magazine/CNN poll 57% of people surveyed said they believed a terror attack on the Independence Day holiday was likely.
US intelligence agencies have been heavily criticised for failing to act on information received before the attacks on 11 September.

A party on Brooklyn Bridge was cancelled due to terrorist threats
IF the American Jews have half the spunk of the Israeli Jews, Katie bar the door.
And if it's the least bit sincere about these warnings, the Bush administration will do everything possible to encourage Americans to protect themselves by any means necessary. I would trust the safety of a synagogue to a shotgun-armed rabbi far more than to a cop ten blocks away.
Although in New York..... "Home" of Hillary....
It has been obvious from the outset that terror is a diffuse threat that requires a diffuse defense. Instead, we have been treated to a further elimination of the people's abilitly to defend themselves. How long before we get to the English system with self defense no longer acceptable as a criminal defense?
NY's government is on the verge of self-worshiping tyranny and anarchíc rule.
I guess them getting circumcised should sure get the NYPD ticked, for G_d, and not the NYPD, circumcised the jurisdiction of a Jew.
I'm in agreement with you. Unfortunately, your hope is as likely as rain in Death Valley tomorrow. Politicians and their top-brass police lackeys are paranoid about Citizens bearing arms. My guess is the beat-cop feels real good about getting some help in the street.
Expect mugging and other crime stats to drop in the areas being patrolled by targeted Americans in New York. No doubt this is the primary reason the anti-Constitution traitors don't want us to actively assist in our own protection from foreign anti-Western culture heathens who have declared war on every American man, woman and child.
While it is commonly acknowledged that an armed Citizenry is a polite Citizenry, the natural consequence of an armed community is a drastic reduction in the rate of crime. A positive consequence to the terrorist threat to America is the strengthening of the argument for an armed Citizenry, and I'm one-hundred percent in favor of that.
The problem is that they're NOT concerned with protection against terrorist acts, but giving the impression that they are... For example, the administrations resistance to allowing pilots to have a gun in the cockpit... They seem to feel that it would be better to have an F-15 or F-16 shoot down a commercial airliner if the crew loses control, then risk a pilot, who is almost certainly a former air force officer, having a gun in the cockpit.
The other day on C-SPAN, I had to have heard the dumbest thing that I've ever heard come out of the mouth of a republican on their morning show... Someone asked why the administration was against the arming of pilots, and his response was something along the lines of, "arming pilots will do nothing to stop the use of weapons of mass destruction!"
Well, that's sort of like saying that you shouldn't wear your seat belts while driving, since they won't keep you from setting your kitchen of fire while cooking!

Heh. Second amendment Jews are already a "militant group" according to the Nazists in the bbc. And of course LarryLied will be along shortly to moan that the second amendment doesn't (or shouldn't anyway) apply to Jews.
Hey Mr. Lied - I got the perfect business idea for you. You can sell yellow iron-on stars of David.
But who knows, maybe you have a warehouse full already?
Rabbi Yakove Lloyd was guest on RadioFR last Thursday! Looks like we are on the cutting edge! (Fox: No, RadioFR: yes)
Maybe, they will wake up some more and not support Hillary, Chuckie and the rest to the liberal lefties next time.
