According to Dave Campbell of ESPNNews, Kile's father died at age 44 due to a ruptured blood vessel in the brain.

ESPNNews is now reporting that the SL Cardinal's press conference was delayed and will begin at approximately 5pm ET, only a few minutes from now. I'm guessing ESPNNews will carry it live.

Tragic. Prayers in offering.

Sounds like an undiagnosed heart problem. Perhaps, familial hypercholesterolemia?

Kile's father died at age 44 due to a ruptured blood vessel in the brain.

This is the kind of thing I'm thinking. When I heard the news about Kile, the first thing I thought was about my father, who died of a heart attack at age 34.

Kile had off-season surgery, so you wonder about a lingering blood clot or aneurysm that was not detected. One rumor that I've come across here in St. Louis is an allergic reaction to a spider bite.

We'll know shortly, I guess. A press conference is scheduled to start momentarily. KMOX Radio here in St. Louis has ongoing live coverage.
