Police: Man Raped, Impregnated Stepdaughters
Julian Charged With Four Counts Of Rape

POSTED: 2:31 p.m. PDT June 21, 2002 UPDATED: 2:35 p.m. PDT June 21, 2002

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A Mexican national has been charged with raping and impregnating his twin stepdaughters after helping smuggle them into the United States.

Marcelino Flores Julian allegedly began molesting the 16-year-old sisters eight years ago in Mexico and began having sex with them two years later, according to police reports.

Bakersfield police Detective Mary DeGeare said Flores said he never forced the girls to have sex. But the twins told police that Flores threatened to kill them and their mother if they told anyone.

"It's just sickening," DeGeare said. "He knew it was wrong."

The girls, who are four and five months pregnant, have been placed in foster homes while the investigation continues. Police began investigating after a neighbor brought one of the girls to a medical clinic.

Flores, charged with four counts of rape, is being held in the county jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.

I know this is going to get me into trouble big time.

I have spent many years in close contact with Mexican people. As a child, many of my friends and playmates were Mexican (I do not consider the term "Mexican" to be perjorative, merely desciptive, like the terms black or Chinese, or whatever). I had Mexican teachers. I spent a great deal of time in Mexico. Today, half my friends and most of my co-workers are Mexican. I am telling all of this as a pre-emptive stike against charges of racism.

I have always known that Mexican culture does not foster respect for women. What I have discovered over the last 20 years is the unnervingly high incidence of child molestation and rape among Mexican men.

Has anyone here ever analyzed this phenomenon?

If they had, it would be buried by liberals. The ONLY people who have problems are white, American males and their culture of evil and hatred < /sarcasm>

I have never heard before that Mexicans have a higher incidence of child molestation. I've also grown up around Mexicans my whole life. My best friend is Mexican. Actually, her father was the epitome of male chauvinism. Her mother had 9 kids, and he frequently went out and caroused behind his wife's back. And I once dated a "chicano" who was raised in a really poor, Mexican agriculture community --and he was also a chauvinist. But this guy I dated really ideolized the peasant culture of Mexico, which I think probably breeds more of these macho jerks. But I have to say, I've met all kind of second generation Mexican-Americans. Like the guy I dated, there are some who never really feel like they fit in with the American "whitey", but they dont' realize that they are no longer Mexican. But the majority of second generation immigrants that I know are very nice, respectible, successful and responsible people. That's just the way things are. My parents immigrated from Gernmany after WWII and they grew up really "old world"... I think after the War there were many men, mentally messed up from the war, who molested children, only back then you didn't hear about it as much. And my Mom always said that after WWII German women prefered to marry American men, because the German men were so chauvinistic. Now it's about 50 years later, and I never hear about German immigrants being chauvinists and molesting little girls.

The attitude is called "machismo." I have seen it too.

Stepdads molesting stepdaughters is fairly common (stats might include live-ins so I don't know how accurate they would be). I'd hang my hat on that angle first.

But yes, I've known a few chauvinist Mexican males in my time too.

Way to go. Try and deflect the issue of Mexican molestations by bringing up the evil, white German men. PC lives.

It is the culture of poverty and it is not restricted to mexicans. It is common throughout Latin America among the lower classes which are usually mestizo or indigenous and are not as westernized as the upper and middle clases.

I suspect it may be true in other third world cultures as well,

What the f*** is this "Mexican national" bulls***? Let's call them what they are for Christ's sake: illegal immigrants!

Oh wait, a perjorative like "illegal immigrant" would hurt president Jorge Arbusto's efforts for amnesty. Stupid me. What was I thinking?
