Hmmm...Howard left out Condi.

I agreee. If not Cheney, then I would like to see Rice.

Hmmm...Howard left out Condi. Howard is not doing his homework, leaving out Dr. Rice from his article.

It will be Rumsfeld.

Ridge wouldn't be chosen for VP because of his pro-abortion stance, IMHO. Secondly, who's fault is it that he's been ineffective as the Homeland Security advisor? No one is saying that about Rumsfeld, Cheney, Powell, Rice, Myers, or even President Bush. No, Tom Ridge has been ineffective, period.

I hope it is J.C. Watts.

I'm not a big Ridge fan, but he's been in a weak position. He hasn't had the power to fire people. Rumsfeld and the others have that power. Even though I haven't seen them use that power, the threat is still there. Ridge, however, hasn't been the boss of anyone.
Since Fineman and Newsweek are Clinton lackies, we can treat the article as the Clinton spin on the issue.

Possible, but he'll be a bit old. The problem with Dr. Rice is that she's never been a candidate much less held elective office. I like her too but those sorts of things are important.

if Vice President Dick Cheney decides to, or is encouraged to, retire. Right there you can tell this is malarkey. If Cheney wants to do a second term, Dubya would be very happy.

If Ridge has been disparaged it is because left-wing media outlets like Newsweek have seen to it.

Not a one in the bunch, with the exceptions of Jeb, who's a non-starter here, and Simon, who I don't know much about, whom I could really get behind. Not that the president has asked for my advice...

Ridge showed up for the hearing yesterday with an earpiece and wire in his left ear. His aides were whispering answers to him. Not a very impressive performance.
If W had to replace Cheney, Watt or Hagel would be my choice.
To: gubamyster
I would have to pick Rudolph Juliani, a hands down no nonsence hard nosed law enforcing straight shooter

Howard is not doing his homework, leaving out Dr. Rice from his article.I think he left her out on purpose. An intelligent conservative black woman is their (liberals/media/fineman) worst nightmare.

Nice catch.
