I come before You today in thanksgiving for Your love and protection despite our nation's faults. Please continue to protect us as we turn our hearts to You.
I pray this evening for President Bush and his family. Protect them from all physical and spiritual harm, and grant President Bush wisdom and courage as he faces the decisions before him.
Grant us victory in the War on Terror, Lord. We know it is not Your will that innocents suffer. Confound and confuse those who would harm the defenseless.
Lord. there is much evil in our nation. We have turned our hearts from You, and because of that our society is crumbling. Intercede in this situation. Grant the Holy Spirit the power to call wanderers home to Your care. Revive our nation, Lord.
For the dangers we face, for the sacrifices we must make, for the hardships ahead, Lord grant us unfailing hearts, strong minds and bodies, and an unwavering faith.
In Jesus' Name I pray,
Amen.
You are the God who knows no time, no here nor there, no near nor far. You know every single one of Your creations. You have numbered the hairs of our heads, and You have counted the sands of the sea. There are no children who are not sought by You or who are unknown to You. Enlighten our minds with Your love today, Father, and fill us with a sense of longing for You, just as You long for us.
Forgive us, Father, for being lukewarm in our age. We are unaware as a Christian Church how great is our need for You. We have been blessed with earthly riches, but have failed to lay up treasures in heaven. You know that we are wretched, miserable, and blind, for we have attempted to compromise our knowledge of Your truths with the worldliness in which we dwell. And therein lies the reason for our lukewarmness. Help us to understand that we must be different, Father. We must not take on the worldly view in our daily lives, but we must stand strong on Your Word, and demonstrate our faithfulness to You in all ways. Father, Your Word says that in the end times, You will be standing at the door and knocking. We pray that we would be ready to hear the knock, Father, and that we would overcome our love for this world and seek eternal life with You.
May You draw President Bush close to You, Father, and may Your arms hold him up so that his feet do not slip. Keep his eyes focused on Your face, Dearest Lord. Let his heart be filled with Your love, and let his hands always do Your work. May his ears be open and attentive to Your voice, and let his feet always be willing to carry the truth of Your Gospel to others. May his mouth speak words that represent Your will, and may his mind be filled with Your wisdom Father, erase and correct any errors in his thinking that are not in line with Your teachings. Help his commitment to You grow and let him seek Your will in all areas of his life. Instill in his wife, Laura, a love for You that will sustain her through all the trials and tribulations of being the First Lady.
Father, hear our prayers also for the children of this nation. Help us to cherish them, Lord. Protect those whose mothers and fathers choose to do away with them before they even have a chance to be born. Bless the little children and let them come unto You, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Father, teach us to shut out all the ugliness of this world that blinds our eyes to You. Help us to know and dwell in the beauty of Your holiness, and let us honor You with our lives in the name of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.
