Hanover files for divorce from Giuliani, lawyer cites adultery

(New York-AP) -- Donna Hanover has filed for divorce from former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani on grounds of cruelty, and her lawyer calls Giuliani's ``open and notorious adultery'' responsible.

The 52-year-old Hanover filed for divorce last Monday in Manhattan's State Supreme Court, more than a year and a half after Giuliani filed to divorce her on grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment.

Hanover's lawyer, Helene Brezinsky, says her client rejected Giuliani's divorce because she rejected the grounds on which it was based.

Today, the state Supreme Court Justice who is hearing the divorce issued several rulings in the case. One of the rulings denied Hanover's request to delay the trial's current July Tenth start date.

Hanover's lawyer wanted a delay because the former mayor allegedly refused to release information about his finances, preventing her from preparing her case.

Gische says there will be separate trials for the main issues in the case -- grounds for the divorce and the finances.

The judge also revised her orders today to require the former mayor to now pay 24-thousand dollars a month to support his two children with Hanover. She says the change in Giuliani's payments -- up from 18-hundred dollars a month -- is justified by his admission that his income from speaking engagements will exceed eight (M) million dollars this year.

Me too. My mom never even got child support. But that was at a time when it was considered a shame to even divorce someone (especially in Italian families).

The "Supreme" Court in New York is not the state's highest court; it's what's called the "Superior Court" in most other states. The New York Supreme Court hears all divorce cases in the state.

This judge doesn't see a problem with making Rudy pay this gold-digger $20,000 every month for "child support." Ring-ring....that's the clue phone ringing...I don't care how much money Rudy might make this year; it does NOT under any circumstance, cost $20,000 a month to raise two kids. This is disguised alimony. It is now a common practice for the robed thugs to do this. Why? Because his wife would have to pay taxes on alimony and Rudy could deduct whatever he had to pay in alimony. But, since they called it as "child support", she won't pay any taxes and Rudy won't be able to deduct it on his taxes.

Over a year ago, Giuliani filed to divorce Hanover on grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment (trying to feminize him, I'm sure).
