$20,000 per month in chid support? Wow! Here in Minnesota (thanks to a child support lawsuit involving Darryl Hall of Hall & Oates fame), the most net income available for child support per month is somewhere over $5000 per month. Since child support is determined by multiplying the net income by 25% for one child, 30% for 2, 34% for 3, up to 50%. Therefore, Bill Gates would pay only around $1250 per month for child support if he got a woman pregnant here.

Wonder what would happen if he worked pro bono the first year and sued her fro support.

After all he is like clintoon and doesn't have a visible means of support.

Giuliani filed for divorce from Hanover in October 2000, on grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment.,

I did not know these were his grounds for divorce. What did she do that was cruel and inhuman? Or does he not need to allege specific acts? It just seems strange that these the grounds -- I would think "irreconcilable differences" covers just about everything, and is much less harsh than the grounds he chose to publicize.

Many middle-aged men behave stupidly when they face impending deterioration and death. Among their stupidities is the belief that a younger woman will add zest to their failing libido. Guliani, Gingrich and Murdoch are good examples of otherwise smart men acting and behaving stupidly.

She already got $2million, the apartment and 3,600 a month in child support. Apparently for Judge "Che" that wasn't enough.

Believe me if you were married to DH you'd act stupidly too. Ever stop to wonder why guys like Blake try to hire a hit man?

I didn't get the impression she got the apartment - the article says she's now paying half, and has been paying half. And, I missed the $2 million pay out. In any event, I feel bad for the two kids. When parents divorce, it is tough on the kids, no matter how many studies they do saying the kids will turn out just fine after the divorce. They often don't.

Judge Judith Gische ordered him to pony up more than $20,000 a month in child support

There is no way you can spend $20,000 a month on three children, excluding tuition, without turning them into spoiled brats.

This article just shows the absurdity of our current "child support" laws. I have no problem with the State intervening to require that a parent provide basic support for his/her offspring so that I, as a taxpayer, don't have to pick up the tab. After that it should be up to the parents to decide and negotiate between themselves whether to send the kids to private schools, etc. I'm sure Rudy would do the right thing by his kids without some dittzy judge issueing a court order.

That pretty much sums up my feelings. I'm also very glad that Hanover was not awarded any spousal support. She is quite capable of earning a living on her own (as she has been doing for many years now).

"When parents divorce, it is tough on the kids, no matter how many studies they do saying the kids will turn out just fine after the divorce. They often don't."

Odd that I find myself on the fathers side in this, but $20,000.00 A MONTH WAS THE REFUSED SETTLEMENT?????

I have always thought my income(based on MY lifestyle choice) was on the low end of middle class, but I am definately not poverty level.I had no idea that child support for two children...

Rudy, can you adopt me? I will be the perfect daughter for 2 or 3 months worth per year forever!

I do agree with you, summer, that the children are devastated in acrimonious divorces. But this particular couples public divorce is offensive. Not only is money not really a valid issue for either parent, the vicious, public battles are insane and ..I cant even come up with a word for the shame they should feel for what they both are doing to their children.

On second thought, I would not wish to be closely associated with either of them.Since I am now feeling "impoverished" I expect the children feel the same.

Giuliani's wife was an embarrassment, she is the mega feminazi. Her mission in life as she saw it, and still does, is to remind him every chance she get that he is NOTHING without her. His new friend seems to make him happy. I hope he is.

I can't say I'm very fond of MS. Hanover either. When she took a role in that vile, you-know-what Monologues, that clinched it for me.

Truthfully, she WAS awarded spousal support. That's what most of the $20,000 per month in "child support" really was. Income from alimony would be taxable for the recipient and deductable for the person who is paying it. However, the money she gets for "child support" is not taxable for her and not deductable for Rudy. This is how the robed thugs in divorce court like to screw over fathers.

FYI, O.J. Simpson was paying $34,000 a month in alimony to Nicole (and she was living in the Brentwood house).

NY civil court cases concerning relationships of famous people seem especially ugly. I remember the whole thing with Woody Allen and Mia Farrow, They were front page news for months and months. And, gosh, you'd never want to even consider how screwed up her kids must be after that whole mess with Woody and the daughter getting married.
