Non-Working Vehicles in Davidson County Can't Be Parked on Lawn
The Metro government doesn't want to look at your old, undrivable cars anymore.
The Metro council held a third and final reading for the junk car ordinance, so now it's law. Any non-working vehicles must be properly stored in a garage or at least parked on a driveway.
That means no cars in your yard in Davidson County.

So? They are my old, undrivable cars :)

What? In Tennessee? That's a sign of redneck pride; the city can't be serious!
Next they'll be banning pink plastic flamingos and yard appliances!

Trash on the lawn suggests there might be trash in the house.
It not only looks bad, but has an effect of lowering re-sale value in the neighborhood.
So they can drag the car out of sight to the backyard or garage.
We've never been allowed to park on our lawns and must keep the trash cans from view after trash day.
There is also people from the city that drive around to make sure the homes meet minimum standards of upkeep as to not allow the city to become a ghetto.
It is getting more like that everywhere because some people's tastes are only in their mouth.

It's a culture thing for some people ;) And Lord knows we cannot say anything negative or bad about someone else's culture. Would not want to offend anyone - so where are these culture sensitive people now? Why aren't the liberals out there screaming bloody murder? Hicks have been living a certain way all their life, and it is their god given right to keep doing so. My guess is - they are mostly white people in that area, and so nothing for Jesse (et al) to do :)

Keep this nonsense up and soon it won't be worth the added vig to live in a deed-restricted gated community.

"Next they'll be banning pink plastic flamingos and yard appliances!" At least Kentuckians are safe from county rules ... for now anyway.

The Metro government doesn't want to look at your old, undrivable cars anymore. Neither do your neighbors! I'm glad to hear this. I've lived in my current house for 8 and half years and the neighbor adjacent to my backyard has had two cars and a van sitting in the same spot in his backyard as long as I've been there and probably years before that.
It's unbelievable. Sometimes I just want to go ask him... "What are you saving these for?" None of them are even collectible type cars. They're rusted junk, some of them so damaged they are probably beyond repair.

Not trying to be rude but did you notice them when you bought the house?

When I moved there, they were mostly hidden behind shrubbery. Now, for some reason, he cut down all the shrubs completely. I also didn't know they were a permanant fixture when I moved there.
