Germany-Afghanistan-Sharia Laws    /WRD/

Germany 'to fiercely resist' Afghan plans for re-imposing Sharia

Berlin, June 18, IRNA -- Germany here Tuesday warned against

introducing Sharia laws in the war-ravaged country, saying it would

'fiercely resist' the move, DPA reported.

"A fallback on the Sharia with its partially draconian

punishments, would deviate the country from the path of democracy and

rule of law which the country committed itself in the Petersberg

accord last December," said Development Minister Heidemarie

Wieczorek-Zeul.

She stressed such fallback would be met with her 'fiercest

resistance'.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced during the Loya Jirga

grand assembly meeting that Islamic Sharia laws would be

re-introduced.

I don't know what to think about this.

"Partially draconic?" How about barbaric, medieval, violent, animalistic
7th Century law interpreted by a bunch of women-despising,
anti-anyone-who-isn't-a-Muslim, hypocritical, bloodthirsty,
power-hungry, unforgiving Imams. I guess the Euroweenies
have to sugar-coat their protest against sharia (Islamic
law) somehow...

... strange formatting indeed: The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) was established in 1934 by the Foreign Ministry of Iran as the country's official national news outlet. For the next six years it operated under the Iranian Foreign Ministry working to disseminate national and international news.....

I think Iran wants Sharia Law to be re-established in Afghanistan (with Khomeni in charge, of course).

If they decide to impose sharia law, Afghanistan will never be anything beyond a s**t infested, backward and miserable hole of a country.

Whether the punishments are "draconian" is neither here nor there. Sharia law set up a multi-tiered legal system where those who are muslim are permitted to commit crime aganist non-muslims with immunity. Crimes committed by muslims against muslims are serious and crimes committed by non-muslims against muslims are also serious.
