Security forces at the scene of the blast in Jerusalem.

At least seven people were killed and 38 injured, three seriously and one in critical condition, when a suicide bomber blew himself up Wednesday at the French Hill intersection in Jerusalem close to 7:10 P.M.

The explosion, next to a hitch-hiking post, blew out the back and the sides of the shelter, leaving just a concrete bench and the roof. (Click here for chronology of terror attacks)

Body parts were scattered on the street, a baby carriage was overturned, and rescue workers covered it with a black plastic bag.

Channel Two television reported that two one-and-a-half year-olds were among the injured, one seriously and the other critically. It also said that the bomber arrived in a car, got out, sprinted toward the hitch-hiking post and blew himself up.

The head of Jerusalem district police, Mickey Levy, said that bomber detonated the device after he was pursued by two Border Police officers. The officers were wounded by the blast, one seriously, Levy said.

"The police chased him to try to stop him, and when he got to the [hitching post], he blew up a large device," he said.

The police chief added that there had not been any specific warnings about the attack.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claims responsibility Hezbollah's television station, Al Manar said that the attack was carried out by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, linked to Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement.

The station said it received a statement from Al-Aqsa saying the bombing was in response to Israeli attacks on Palestinian territory and assassination of Palestinian activists.

"Zionists, leave this land. We will not stop our operations as long as there remains an occupier on our land," the statement said.

"The Palestinian wave of terror continues to be unleashed against Israel's civilian population," said David Baker, a spokesman in the office of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

"This war continued yesterday, continues today and will continue tomorrow," Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert told Channel Two from the scene of the blast. He called "for an ongoing military operation... so there won't be anything left that can threaten us with terror."

The explosion comes just one day after a suicide bomber blew himself up on a packed commuter bus in southern Jerusalem, killing 19 people and wounding over 70. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.

Israle needs to resume its 10 Arabs for 1 Israeli policy. And it needs to start with the extended family of the suicide bombers. They don't care about their own lives, fine; let's see if they care about their wives, brothers, sisters and children.

Right! Where is the outcry from the muslims over this incident yesterday? They have overly big mouths when they criticize the West, (check out that overweight jackass on Alan Keyes' show), but have no words when one of their "heros" murders innocent women and children. If Islam is not a false religion there is no such thing!!!

You better watch the anti-Islam stuff....I was warned by the sys administrator to not post anti-catholic, anti-gay messages and crude stuff.... is that common?

I'm not new but have been a lurker for awhile and decided to join in on the posting...
How does that work or did I make 1 sys administrator mad and have now been warned once.
is there more than one sys administrator?
Do I get a couple of strikes or is that it?
If I'm booted off do I ever get to come back to Free Republic or is that gone too? Just wonderin.

There is no outcry from the muslims over ANY of the incidents, at least none that I have heard since Sept. 11th when even apparently, there was some kind of candlelight vigil in Iran, which may just have been for the 19 hijacker/murderer "brothers" who were now dead.

They are insistent that each of these homicide bombing attacks are "self-defense" for the "Israeli/infidel/Zionist terrorist acts & occupation." It's become their mantra.

The overweight loud mouth on Keyes' show, is he Husseini? I've seen him on Fox if that's who you're talking about, and yes, he's one of their main puppets, him and a Pali-woman who can't shut her mouth for fear of hearing the truth: that those she defends are indefensible.

I'm reading an old novel today: Black Sunday by Thomas Harris (Red Dragon & Silence of the Lambs). It's about an ex-POW American who hooks up with a hottie PLO chick so they can blow up the Super Bowl & the President with a blimp in a "Black September" strike. Besides the plot, one of the first quotes that hit me on page 2:
The restoration of Palestine to the Arabs would not have elated him. He believe in holocaust, the fire that purifies.

Written in 1975, it's amazingly fitting for today for fiction, isn't it? Their false religion bears too many similarities to Nazi-ism IMHO. Their Mein Kampf is the Koran and their Final Solution is the elimination of Jews/Israels/Infidels. They even brainwash their children not too differently from how I've read the Nazis did their child-soldiers. Promising them paradise for purification?

I see no end to this through negotiation. I don't know how anyone can at this point. It's nothing more than a pipe dream.

I've seen that kind of thing as well... the warning you mention you received. I think a lot of it has to do with who reads your post, and whether or not they "report" you with the abuse button under your statements.

There are more than a couple admistrators, I THINK, but I'm not sure how the warnings work. I've seen people who are definite disruptors who get away with insults disguised as constructive criticism again & again. I've also seen people banned, but not knowing their entire posting history or the nature of the recent problem, have no idea what happened.

I do avoid direct personal attacks. I don't disagree with people, but I'll disagree with their opinions, or their facts, if they're wrong and I can show why. As for the anti-Islam stuff, it's pretty mainstream here, normally backed with their own words & actions. I DO know that you can't make your FReep name "Death2Islam" or some similar thing. They won't allow you to be THAT vocal. :)

BTW, Glad you're no longer lurking!

CKG, since Jesus is "the way, the truth, and the life," the whole Islamic thing is based on lies anyway, whether they are non-violent or not. All the terrorists lack is a swastika in place of their cresent moon and then we have a ringer. I have never seen such an evil movement, that errantly thinks that they are a godly one. Even the most obstinate atheist would have to agree that WW3 will be fought in the Middle East. Those people are going to pull the entire globe into a conflict there. It's just a matter of time.....
