[SNIP] O'Malley, who ran for Montgomery County State's Attorney in 1998, put a copy of his manuscript, titled ``Deep Throat: Fact or Fiction,'' on the Internet last week. The book can be downloaded for $12. Dean is expected to publish his own e-book on the online magazine site Salon.com on June 17, the 30th anniversary of the bungled Watergate break-in, with his theories of who Deep Throat was. O'Malley said he doesn't need to put forth any theories, he has a confession from the source himself - Joe Lowther, a former aide to Watergate Judge John J. Sirica and one-time St. Michaels resident.

Nah! Deep Throat was imaginary--a literary device to heighten the hype! Nobody in that world could have gone this long without claiming credit--nobody!

I think "Deep Throat" was a Woodward and Bernstein fiction too. Making up a "source" to project the reporter's ideas is a long tradition in "gotcha" journalism.
If "Deep Throat" does exist it's obviously a woman (or else why would it be named for a Linda Lovelace character?) and the only woman working for Nixon at a high level was Diane Sawyer. She has denied it, but of course she would.

Democratic Judge Sirica's assistant was talking to the press?!?
"Maximum John" was actually a Republican (RINO variety) who had been a Nixon supporter in 1968.
