I see 3-4 per day dead on the road. The last count estimates 1.3 to 1.8 million deer in the state, second only to Texas. And WI is a heck of a lot smaller than Texas. Now they're worried about cronic wasting disease which affects the brain, similar to mad cow disease. The DNR is planning to shoot 15,000 in the area that it has been discovered.

Wow! Desk have tops?

I don't know which is worse - constantly letting her in and out of the house to chase the birds - or having to steam clean the carpets twice a week LOL. my half lab / half german shorthair catches english sparrows and places them in
the community dog water bowl. oh, look, presents for daddy. yuk.

You talkin' to me??;-) Pappy was just asking a question.
Though the ashes of love have maybe burned out with me and palo, a decent man, as I hope I am, tries to take care of the wild oats he has sewn.

Thank you FReeper!
To: tacticalogic
yup.
To: Gabz
It has been about 5 years since we have had any elk. I keep hinting with successful hunters.
To: WIMom
OUCH!!!
I'm sure if I did the really rural routes more often I would be seeing more - but I spend so much time in and out of town that I don't see it as often.
My personal opinion - let the hunters and farmers take them out.
We have several different groups that take the unwanted kill for the various shelters, soupkitchens and pantries - none of it would go to waste the way road kill does - especially in this kind of weather.

Even your desk and office area looks neat compared to mine!

The deer herd in WI is a huge problem right now. They have special hunts to thin them out. Only, the people in the suburbs are feeding them and they are reproducing faster than they can be killed. There are even stats for car-deer damage.
