I'd never want to live in Chicago either. It's way too big and way to congested.

I must say, tho, as a kid, and a teen, and a young mother, I did love Chicago, as it was the only place I had ever lived...I loved the museums, the zoos, the lakefront for fishing and swimming, and parking,....and the shopping downtown was wonderful...Marshall Fields is still my favorite store of all time...and all the great restaurants, and clubs, and pubs, were the best

But when we moved to North Carolina, it was like a shock...we moved from the big city into the countryside....I dont think I was able to get a full nights sleep for 6 months...it was so quiet, and I was used to the noises of the big city....

But eventually I became completely 'contrified(is that a word?)

Then we moved to Western Washington State, and we have lived more rurally ever since...

Going to Seattle, is even now a little scarey for me...My son, who lives in Seattle, laughs at me...he says he cannot believe that I was born, and raised in Chicago, and lived there for the first 32 yrs of my life...

Altho my son was more or less raised in the boonies, he now prefers the city life of Seattle...

He groans when he comes down to visit us in Olymia, because he finds it booooring....

But he agrees it was a great place to grow up...But now, at the age of 28, he prefers the hustle and bustle of the big city...

Freepers, save the environment and support Free Republic.

Cancel the subscription to your tree killing left wing fish wrap for the old lies/news you now get.

Then send half of your monthly savings to Free Republic.

Then there is no left over fishwraps filling up our garbage dumping areas, trees will live and be happy, not cut and turned into pulp to make fishwraps.

Gas and diesil fuel will be saved by not transporting poor dead trees (what did those trees ever do to you!)to be come wood pulp. Then more fuel to make transport the pulp to a paper mill. Then more fuel to transport the paper to the newspaper. Then more fuel to transport the newspaper to you with the 24 hours late lies. Then more fuel to pick up your old news papers to be recycled. Then more fuel to sneak the newspapers into the garbage dump at night as no one wants the old newspapers.

No wonder the Opecker Princes love the big fish wraps in America. The Fishwrap publishers use a lot fuel that becomes petro $'s to buy more terrorism toys for Arafat and the al Qeada thugs.

Stop this vicious cycle. Cancel your subscription to your fishwrap and send half of your monthly savings to Free Republic. Save the environment and make the mediots even more impotent!

However, today, is going to be near 70, and then by Thurs it will be up to 80(listen to me moan about its too hot)...and the nites are staying a little warmer also...

So perhaps at long last, I can discard my long underwear until the fall rainy season kicks in, and hopefully my furnace will get a rest from having to kick in late at nite, and early in the morning

And perhaps I will get a break on my heating gas bill, and have a few months of a much cheaper gas bill...

I never was a 'big city' girl. Tho, I lived in Milwaukee, it was always on the edge of town. I've been moving to smaller and smaller cities as time goes by. Now I live in a town that doesn't even have an official gas station! We are close to West Bend, which has about 25,000 people. I'm even starting to think that is getting to big. I don't miss the big cities at all.
