There's no call for profiling (barf alert)
Auburn (NY) Citizen ^ | 6/10/02 | Ron VanNostrand

Posted on 06/10/2002 8:30:19 AM PDT by Behind Liberal Lines

I was listening to the radio when I heard a man speaking about airport security. He claimed that we were wasting a great deal of money and passengers' time with our current airport-screening procedures. He was fairly confident that, because of the present scrutiny, terrorists would no longer use airplanes as missiles.

His position was that adequate security could be maintained through the use of profiling.

I agreed with his point that terrorists are now looking elsewhere for places to strike against American interests, but the thought of profiling really concerns me. There seems to already be too much prejudice. Just recently people of Middle- Eastern descent were forced off of a plane because a woman with an overactive mind thought they were acting suspiciously. My other concern is what would the criteria be? Would people be profiled by suspected nationality, complexion, height and weight, color of their eyes or gender? What worries me the most is that while people who meet certain required attributes are being searched, other more "normal-looking" fanatics may be given a free hand to wreak havoc.

While I seldom find myself in agreement with Vice President Cheney, I also believe that terrorists will strike again. It seems almost inevitable considering our current foreign policy of threatening any nation that does not agree with us. I'm sure if I lived in a country constantly threatened by invasion, I might consider those issuing the threats as my enemy. Even mice, when cornered, will fight back.

While many of us see our troops stationed in Saudi Arabia as vital to protect our domestic interest (a.k.a. oil) and the current regime, many people there view us as an occupying force in league with a repressive government. Under this and other corrupt regimes, many citizens are denied their basic human rights. Because they're not allowed to participate in their government, they're drawn to more radical factions. Some are without homes, food, have few possessions and no hope for the future. To them the thought of martyrdom is appealing, especially if it benefits their loved ones. In the global class struggle, people of desperation are the enemy of the affluent.

This danger will not be stopped by airport profiling or by bombing people back to the Stone Age. It will only be halted through equality, enlightenment, understanding, truth, justice and "real" democracy.

Apparently nobody told this idiot that Osama Bin Laden is from a family of multi-billionaires.

yep, typical liberal BS, everything comes down to material inequality and "lack of understanding". The people who come here to kill arent interested in hugs and quality of education.

If the terrorist attacks had been committed by blonde, blue-eyed Germans, this guy would have no problem with "profiling." Liberals will be the death of us all.

Another point here. Saudi Arabia has so much money at their disposal that there is virtually no poverty. The biggest problem in most of the Middle East is that there is way too many people with too much time on their hands.

Given the new spate of video cell phones, I suspect that their hands will not be idle!

He also failed to note that Osama wants to create a world wide Muslim theocracy that he, of course, would run. Just imagine a world ruled by a bunch of limp dicks in the "Ministry of Religion, Morals, and Chastity". This should be a liberals biggest nightmare not whether some Saudi visitor is upset by being searched more than other people.

As are a great number of these Islamofacists. Take a look at their leaders. The great majority of the them come from well to do families, have the best education, and have usually travelled extensively abroad. Its much like the western left who hate their own culture.

The things you mention may be a problem, but I think they want to kill us, because we are not Muslims.

"There seems to already be too much prejudice."

You hit the nail right on the head! The Islamic loonies want to conquer the world for Allah. According to them, you have two choices. You can convert to Islam, or die. They haven't changed ther philosophy since the time of the Ottoman Turks.
The sooner we accept the truth, the better off we will be. Even the Chi-coms realize this. They will not allow people from "fundamental" Islamic countries into China.

Yes, by all means, lets continue to search and frisk people like my 75 year old white haired mom, who is under 5 ft. tall and petite, frail, tiny, etc. ... and search her shoes while you are at it, and empty out her bags and rifle through them, too.... & Let's continue to allow the young Middle Eastern males pass on through security with their duffle bags loaded with dirty bombs. Right...
