ITHACA -- Former presidential press secretary Joe Lockhart remembers a particular Washington morning after he'd stayed up all night dealing with a breaking TV news story.

"I was in the shower, and the next thing I knew, someone's shaking my arm," he said. "It was my wife. I had fallen asleep standing up."

"I never stood at the podium during all of that and questioned Trent Lott's patriotism, or his commitment," Lockhart said. "That was off-limits."

Of course, one of his bosses blamed everything on a "Vast right wing conspiracy."

And his other boss called Rush Limbaugh "hate radio."

But I guess that doesn't count because it was only the president and first lady, not a press secretary, making the claims.

And of course, the Ithaca Journal challenges nothing he says.

Ithaca is the City of Evil.

This whole country fell asleep standing up during the Clinton years and it awoke on 9-1-1.We have only ourselves to blame for allowing this but we are still headed down the same path of destruction under the Democrats because they and the liberal press and news media are still in control pushing their PC agenda!

The toughest days were those leading up to a military campaign, he said. "It was really difficult to have my job because everybody knew something was up, and it was very important to me to not mislead them in any way," he said. "... What I couldn't do was do anything that tipped our hand one way or another."

What is that stuff all about? Do you remember any military campaigns back then?

Well, there was lobbing a few cruise missles at suspected terrorist camps and not hitting anything of consequence.

And there was that "Wag the Dog"-esque attack during the impeachment proceedings.

However, it is interesting to note that, on one hand Lockhart complains that nobody in the media cared about anything but Lewinsky, and on the other hand, he claims that there was intense media scrutiny over these Mickey Mouse military strikes that are long forgotten.

In other words, what we have here is another Clintonista speaking out of both sides of his mouth (and another fawning member of the liberal media not catching the inconsistency in her own article).

I think this makes a lot of sense.

You'd naturally want someone who lied for a living, on behalf of someone who lied for a living, to meet with a bunch of lawyers in the City of Evil.
