Hotel people told me that "some liberal must have turned off access to Fox News Channel."
Posted on 06/09/2002 9:09:08 PM PDT by GrinFranklin
I noticed that the TV said "channel not available" when I used the remote to go to Fox News Channel in my hotel room tonight. Maintenance people came and went through the add/remove channels process and saw that "some liberal must have turned off access."

Tee hee. In my venue of employment, there's a number of TV's in the lobbies and break rooms that constantly get changed back and forth from CNN to Fox. It depends on who is at the master control in the office.

I think the maintenance man was saying that a guest removed the channel from the viewing list.

My suspicion is that the hotel guy couldn't figure out how to work the thing and made a joke. There isn't an evil liberal conspiracy behind everything.

#4 is most likely. Just another Liberal practising his own version of free speech.

I'd pay to have my TV equipped with an automatic "blackout" when Alec Baldwin, Rosy Fatface, BS Streisand et al. show their mugs on the screen. Better yet I'll leave the damned thing turned off.

My parents owned a small motel for a while. Just before they sold it, the cable company added channels.
I was visiting at the time and added FoxNews among the rest to about 20 sets, in total.

"a guest"??
The story didn't convey that, and neither did it say if the channel was restored. Weird!

I used to travel with my husband quite a bit and I hated it when all there was to watch was CNN....
We really need to check with hotels and motels before we book rooms with them. Demand FNC and if they don't have it, go somewhere else. THAT should get their attention.

I work at a radio station here in Florida and we have a tv in most of the studios. Whenever I work in the on-air studio, I turn it to foxnews right away. I'm not sure who turns it back to CNN, but I know it's not the guy who is in the studio before me. He's the conservative talk show host.

Good idea, Humidston.

The maintenace people were able to restore the channel to the television. One of them said that they were going to try to figure out how to lock the tv's so that nobody could turn off channels.
I think the hotels are held hostage by the channel lineup of the local cable company. But more and more I'm seeing FNC showing up when I travel. Hilton folks were really helpful in this particular situation...not wanting to censor any cable news

Your tale gives a boost to the libbo myth that the Right is stupid.
I'm disappointed that the libbo who reset the channel had the wits to do so but, the Conservative wasn't able to figure out the same, simple, procedure.
Myself, I always do stuff to undermine libbos such as, making sure to place magazines such as National Review and American Spectator in full view on newstand racks- covering the libbo rags like harpers, the nation, heck, newsweek and time also.
Don't leave political pranks to the libs alone.
The best defense is a good offense.
I love offending libbos.

At the hotel where I work I always switch the channel from CNN to FOX News in the middle of the night so I can see the rebroadcasted shows I missed during the day.
Without fail over the last few weeks -- as soon as FOX & FRIENDS comes on at 5AM -- I have guests in the lobby getting very loud and obnoxious and demanding that the channel be changed to CNN ("the real news") even if other guests were already watching FOX. Curiously, all of these belligerent pro-CNN early morning guests are federal government employees working for FEMA during the recent flooding and tornado damage in the area.
I'm not an expert on the federal bureaucracy but I guess most civilian federal employees are hard core liberals . . . and they like their CNN.

There isn't an evil liberal conspiracy behind everything. Yes there is. Liberals are everywhere. There's one in my dresser and there's one behind my office door, right over there.
Oh, they're clever. You can't move quick enough to catch 'em. But that doesn't mean they aren't there. Just you be careful.
:)
Shalom.
