My, my, isn't that a pretty knockoff of a bucolic Thomas Kinkade scene hanging at the Fetterly Gallery in Vallejo? Smoke curls from a charming New England cottage, a brick footbridge is reflected in a shimmering stream, and heavenly light filters through the trees.

Public Funding of offensive art is only part of this story...

Vallejo is symbolic of government run amuck. The budget deficit in California is horrendous but each city and county will snivel they neeed more TAX dollars.

Kinkade's "art" is even more offensive, but at least I don't have to pay for it. He's an artist in the same sense that Britney Spears is a musician and Twinkies are fine cuisine. The lowest common denominator keeps falling through the floor.

"What if they held an exhibit of stupid, tasteless, offensive 'art' and nobody came?"

Apparently we still get the bill.

Kincade's art falls more in the "decoration" type category. If you've seen one painting, you've seen them all.

However, he has managed to earn the money he has himself, without government funding, so more power to him.

And I would rather people collect Kincade than "Precious Moments." Ugh.

Yep, I'd say Bosch was the man to do it.

Public funding of this stuff is wrong, and Sances can take his politics and .... you know. However, nicey-nice assembly-line *art* positively begs for rude parody.

Yet another tortured, dysfunctional "artist" catharting at taxpayer's expense. And shaming us for not supporting his mass-group therapy.

Yeah, but look at some of what's "behind the door":

It's dreadful, all right. While certain things (as I said) beg for rude parody, this drooling idiot Sances (as I should have said) is NOT the man to do it.

His dreck is standard-issue shock the bourgeoisie, and make them pay for it.

There's no subtlety, and the message (when he isn't beating us with symbolism) is muddled. Maybe I'm not enough of an art geek to understand, but this stuff doesn't seem to make the avant garde cut.

I hate the name of the picture more than the pic.

It trashes the memory of all the people who fought to stop the hijackers of flight 93. Neil young is a *hole for honoring those people? Screw you buddy and your "horror" that we fought back.

Who knows how many lives they saved; I know how crushing and demoralizing another successful strike that day, on the white house no less, would have been to me. With all the horror of that day they saved at least me from complete and utter despair.

I created a work of art: I have immersed the Koran upside down in a bucket of urine and placed it on a dropcloth made of the flag of Saudia Arabia. Do you think I can get funding for my creativity?
