Do you favor or oppose expanding law enforcement powers to catch suspected terrorists, even if it requires sacrificing some personal civil liberties?

63% of americans support curtailing civil liberties to deal with terrorism. Super! I wonder if any have considered perhaps privatizing the FBI as an alternative solution so they can be "professionalized"

Why can't we keep our civil liberites and remove those of non-citizens who aren't covered by The Constitution anyway?

Because once we let them in here they are subject to the protection of our laws. I would not want to be in a foreign country where it was decided I had no rights because I wasn't from (france, sweden, portugal) [insert socialist country] here.

Were Nazi spies in WWI caught on our turf during WWII granted constitutional rights?
Sorry to disagree, but those coming here illegally are NOT granted the same constitutional rights as citizens. Having traveled a lot overseas, I can tell you that in most cases, you would not be granted the same rights as a citizen of the country you were visiting

That is exactly how you will be treated if you are there illegaly or commit a crime.
Been that way as long as I can remember.
Try to dump a baby in any of those countries and claim citizenship/residency...

This is truly disgusting. It would be helpful, however, if they did a poll asking exactly how much and which civil liberties these meatheads would be willing to "sacrifice" (abandon is more the word). And this poll should also ask "for how long?"
These painfully ignorant people have no idea what thier civil liberties and rights (freedoms) are, and most of them did nothing to have those rights other than be born in the US. This is why they are so ready to dump these rights for a little "security".
Kudos to the socialistic public education system, it apparently has acheived its goals. BLOAT.

I am not in favor of sacficing my liberties, but I am in favor of taking the same liberties away from those illegal aliens who have been granted them even though they were not granted in the Constitution.

63% of americans support curtailing civil liberties to deal with terrorism. In other words, 63% of today's "americans" just told all those signers of our Constitution, and all those brave men and women who have died defending our nation and our Constitution, to kiss their ass, go to hell, and screw them and their BS sacrifice.
IOW's 63% of today's "americans" are just a bunch of chickensh!t spoiled rotten scared silly whining ninnies willing to sacrifice their own freedom for some alleged BS protection that is absolutely non-existant. ie "Terror attacks are inevitable. " Ain't that what they say? "Nothing we can do to prevent them." Ain't that what they say? Oh yea, excuse me, there is something we can do. Give up on our own freedoms. Yea, that's the ticket.

Those that give up liberty for security will end up with neither.

Those who worry about the color of the wall paper when their house is on fire end up homeless and wallpaperless...

It's remarkable the number of "deep thinkers" who misinterpret that line...
It is a call to fight for what liberty holds dear; not to scquiesce and surrender to evil, spouting aphorisms...

It really all depends on the definitions. Consider the scenario that if using heroin were shown to be directly responsible for 9/11, there are some ideologues who would argue that people have a "right" to support terrorism. Indeed, they are the same ones who argue for the "right" to any form of self-destruction, so it's a small step to saying that people have a "right" to destroy their own society, too.
Personally, I find the selfishness of some people most disturbing. Any personal sacrifice (or even sacrafice!) is just way too much of a burden for them to bear. These are the types who would defecate on a serving tray if the airline stewardess refused them their "right" to be drunk.

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.
As one of the most prominent of the Revolutionary Brothers, I believe ole Ben knew what he was talking about.

It is a call to fight for what liberty holds dear; not to scquiesce and surrender to evil, spouting aphorisms... Yes, but evil comes in many forms. You are fixated on but one.
I we surrender our civil liberties for a fleeting sense of security, then OBL will have succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

Were Nazi spies in WWI caught on our turf during WWII granted constitutional rights? If I am not mistaken the Nazis didn't come into existence until 1933, so there fore there could not have been any Nazi spies in WWI.
