Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arrived in Washington to meet later this week with U.S. President George W. Bush at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland.

Mubarak arrived in the United States from London where he held talks with Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair.

At their scheduled meetings Friday and Saturday at Camp David, Mubarak will present Bush with a plan to break the Arab-Israeli stalemate by urging him to back the proclamation of a Palestinian mini-state.

According to AFP, the Egyptian plan includes a timetable which notably provides for a Palestinian state to be proclaimed in early 2003. The state would be announced after the Palestinian security services are restructured, political reforms adopted and presidential and parliamentary elections held, in late 2002.

Before his talks with Bush, Mubarak is expected to meet with Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. Mubarak is accompanied by Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher and his political advisor Osama al-Baz, the Egyptian press reported. Mubarak's son Gamal has been in Washington since Sunday to prepare for the visit, it added.

I think Egypt should be added to the fingerprint and visa files, starting with Hosni, who I believe had something to do with the bombing of the USS Cole as payment from Clinton for hosting *emergency* peace talks when Clinton was lobbying for the Nobel and Hosni was having a hissy fit over our conclusion that the Egyptair crash was done deliberately by the Egyptian pilot.
Egypt is our *friend* in the same sense that Saudi is our friend. Not. Nada. None. Zilch. Lying for dollars is the only game they know.
