I didn't get to watch much of the hearing today but I loved it when Feldman was questioning PDvD.
It must be absolutely awful to try a murder case and have these wingdings as your focus. Is it possible for all jurors (just regular people) to not be more caught up in the sensationalism of the sleaze than anything else?
I was telling my husband tonight that one of the icky things about this case is that we have to sit and watch the "good guys" defending and befriending these very unsavory people.
I bet it is hard for some of them. Even if they are convinced that DW did it, they know that the opportunity was most likely linked strongly to the parental behavior.
I believe Feldman is finished with Brenda.......for now that is.
Wasn't it originally said that Danielle went to sleep in a pair of pj's....then grandma showed those same pj's to the media....then it was claimed that the "2nd" pair belonged to a another child? That stuck me as odd.
What is this about a blue blanket? I thought I heard the first searcher who testified say something about looking for a blue blanket but then I didn't hear anymore about it. Now another poster has mentioned it.... sorry, can't remember who... wanted to wait until I caught up on reading before posting. Anyone know what that's about?
I'm still giving him the benefit of being innocent until proven guilty.
But if it somehow ends up 99.999999% sure that he did do it, it will be a sad day if he goes free because of these horrid parents.
The converse is also true, sad to say ... if you are not convinced DW did it, you must be a sanctimonious Puritan railing against the VD lifestyle.
Both of these presumptions are equally false, and believe it or not, most here don't fall into those categories. I tend to think most of us on these threads are waiting for all the evidence, and want justice to be done fairly. We just differ on which 'horse' we think is going to cross the line first.
Westerfield On Trial (WEEK 1 Recap): Brenda Van Dam, Dad's Bar
If you are referring obliquely to the reported 'under age rape anime', I would presume that since the prosecutor can say anything, true or false (remember this is not evidence), it would be OK to show anything, again true or false.
maybe a lwayer can inform us more in depth. btw, I was not aware that slide shows and mutlimedia stuff was allowable during opening arguments. I thought, from past experience, that the arguments were strictly verbal. The pics and stuff is all new to me, so I don't know what is allowable or not, or where the 'truth line' is drawn.
Good point! I was struck by Damon's testimony about withholding pot and sex info from the cops - "I didn't want to get in any trouble" (owtte). No concern for his friends, not even worried about his wife, just 'I' want to stay out of trouble. I bet that is a very cold household nowadays.
If the trend continues, Next weeks thread will have more PA's (personal attacks) than information about the trial.
That would be a pity.
The best way is, as has been suggested, to LET GO. It is known as FORGIVENESS. You do not do FORGIVENESS for the benefit of others. You do it for YOURSELF. If you don't it will eat you up inside.
Anger is an emotion that works feeds both sides and keeps growing exponentially. Hard to stop once it gets going.
Maybe, we pick up an emotional frenzy from the trial. Whether you want to b*tch slap the VD's or you are totally convinced DW is a child-killer, you can't help but build up some kind of anger of the death of an innocent child.
Unfortunately, that anger has to get out, go somewhere, and it is easy to let it out on others.
Remember this. If we could all get together and meet, we would probably find many things to learn about each other and like. It is too easy to be impersonal when you don't have to look the other person in the eye, and see their hurt when attacked.
BEST OFFER: DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU. (and remember, they will do in kind, even if it's bad).
1. The whole neighborhood knew these people were swingers and Brenda was bi.
2. Yes, I have a large collection of nude pictures of adult woman. I'm a single, heterosexual male. Any pictures of kids in there came from downloading collections from others. I'm not into kids.
3. Brenda did me once or twice in the RV just for fun, that's why the VD dna is in there.
4. I was interested in Barbara, but not that interested, I don't have to beg.
5. I know my driving the RV all over that weekend looked weird, but it's really not, I was "campground hopping" looking for some of the hot women, I'd found there before. I was going places where there are lots of people. I didn't know anyone was looking for me.
6. I didn't kill Danielle, or dump her body and I don't know who did.
