More of that 'compassionate conservatism', I guess. One small step for mankind.....one more lurch to the left by the Bush Administration.

Thinking again, I want to know if this is a true "Bush administration" report, or something from the National Science Foundation or something. If it is not a direct Bush administration report, I can accept it since it is not really coming from him.

Also for the first time-- the White House places "most of the blame for recent global warming on human actions -- mainly the burning of fossil fuels that send heat-trapping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere,"

Please tell me how this position has changed from June 11, of 2001 that was found in this article President Bush Discusses Global Climate Change

... The issue of climate change respects no border. Its effects cannot be reined in by an army nor advanced by any ideology. Climate change, with its potential to impact every corner of the world, is an issue that must be addressed by the world....

...There is a natural greenhouse effect that contributes to warming. Greenhouse gases trap heat, and thus warm the earth because they prevent a significant proportion of infrared radiation from escaping into space. Concentration of greenhouse gases, especially CO2, have increased substantially since the beginning of the industrial revolution. And the National Academy of Sciences indicate that the increase is due in large part to human activity....

I would believe just about anything about Bush, but this seems bogus. Of course I never expected the Pope to agree that evolution is most likely valid either.

If this is true, even though it may never effect Bush's policies on green house emissions, and the Kyoto Treaty, during his administration, it will sure give the Demoncrats fuel when they have the White House again.

It's been quite a week for the Clinton, er, Bush Administration. First, this:

The U.S. attorney's office argued yesterday in D.C. Superior Court that the District's ban on handguns should be upheld, brushing aside the Bush administration's new directive that the Second Amendment guarantees individuals the right to bear firearms.

Then, details about the No Child Left Behind program promoted by Bush, which continues to divide the races and punishes schools solely on the basis of race:

A school's rating under the No Child Left Behind Act hinges on how well the school as a whole, as well as nine ethnic and other groups, perform on standardized tests. Under federal standards:

Each school will pass muster only if every one of its groups makes adequate yearly progress.

A subgroup will "make adequate yearly progress" if the expected percentage of students passes reading and math tests.

Now, this. Can anyone claim Bush is a conservative anymore with a straight face? On most issues, he's doing more damage than Clinton. At least, the Republicans stopped Clinton. Who's going to stop Bush?

Well, now that the Bush Administration, basically, has said that in fact Al "Earth in the Balance" Gore was right on this global warming thing and auto emissions and all, I guess that means we elected the wrong guy to office considering that, with yet another Bush-U-Turn towards the (barbed) left, and in particular on this issue, then Bush was up until now wrong on the issue, and so I suppose if the Bushies are saying in effect Al Gore was right all along it would have probably have made sense to elect the guy who had it right all along instead of wrong?

Right?

Or maybe this is another Bush secret plan, that we just don't understand the big picture yet, but just trust Bush on this one - it all has to do with our war on (Islamic) terrorism or something. Don't worry, the Bushies will explain it all to us shortly so that we can be in on the "turn of the card" that Bush has up his sleeve on this one - don't worry, it's all part of a game plan to legerdemain the libs at their own game to defeat terrorism through political correctness, and, after all, if we get rid of oil and gas and automobiles and stuff, we won't have to rely on those Arab countries for all that oil. Get it? And, the bottom line is, as the Buffalo Bush Administration is now saying, global warming is caused by humans, you can forget about drilling for oil in the frozen tundra because the idea isn't to find more oil that feeds those autos, the idea is to go back to a world lit only by fire.
