Best movie on terrorism; Arlington RoadI agree, totally. After 911, seeing that movie again becomes relevant, to try to puzzle through the plot and figure out what is an appropriate line between nosiness and civic duty.
When we saw the movie, the theatre was close to sold out. Then, it disappeared...it's awful the way non-mainstream movies either aren't shown at all in the major theatres, or if they are, will be quickly removed for some hyped up waste of time.

Yep. "Arlington Road" was the movie that really tried to get people to look past the 'lone nut case' scenario that is always presented in movies and the news. It really made me start to think hard about some of these mass shootings and other similar events...

Best movie on terrorism; Arlington Road.It looked to me like a particularly offensive piece of left-wing propaganda, part of Clinton's effort to terrify people with the spector of evil right-wing terrorism. Tim Robbins character was a caricature of malevolence.
A year ago, you would have found a lot of people here to agree with my assessment. Times change. Post 9/11 people look at things differently. What seemed an unrealistic and fanciful depiction of one lone nut might look like an accurate depiction of the way well-financed and fanatical terrorist cells function.
I still wouldn't see it again, though. Maybe if they remake it with Robbins' character as an Islamicist ...

Chilling! One of the best movies I've ever seen. Just surprised it didn't get the hype that it should have received. My husband and I went to see it the day it opened and the theatre was less than 1/4 full. We now have it in our private library.
