Actually, that "China's Military Capabilities Apr 2001" site you posted is quite good...far more balanced than most of the PLA-hype stuff that is posted on FR. I think even they understimate how long it would take the Chinese to put into service an operating CV...2005 is ridiculously optimistic for them...more like 2012, I suspect.

I know there are many who feel Gertz is a bulldog on the China-thing. I wanted to make sure I listed other sources as well, to either back or refute any information. I try to do that with most anything I read about that I need more info on... not settle with just one source all with the same agenda but different "agendas" (like the link you mentioned).
