Probably because the government is corrupt and any money infused into Africa goes into Leader's pockets or black marketeers profits. The population is not well eduacted if educated at all, and easy to dictate to. Money, truck loads of condums, food, and any other aid sent will simply be sucked up by the current regime.

"I really don't care. THey're both nut job musicians. ONe just happens to be pro hunting and very good at it, but he's still a loon. If he wants to go to africa and criticize these socialist popstars like bono, I won't complain but I'm not going to pretend like he's a hero for it either."

I'm not pretending and you are clueless. Nuge is right about 99% of what he says; he articulates it intelligently, he's a conservative activist, a drugless role model and he LIVES BY HIS WORDS! The ONLY thing he has in common with Bono is that he makes music and breathes oxygen.

Watch Ted Nugent tonight on the O'Reilly Factor as he takes apart Ozzy Osborne's self-indulgence and moronic ramblings and then come back and tell us that Ted's a "nut job". If you've got a problem with musicians, that's your problem - what do you do for a living btw?

Nugent is as CONSERVATIVE as humans come and imho, he is a hero of mine; he's giving it back to the whining socialists like Bonehead and very likely he's done more for the conservative movement than many of us posting here.

Listen while I testify! In the early 80's Ted was instrumental in converting me from a lame-ass thumb-sucking liberal that did as I was told as long as I was stoned, into a free-thinking drug-free individual that found the truth! He's long been Limbaugh's pal and a frequent guest on his show and I'll dare say there are many others just like me that took a tip from Ted. Rather than name-call, you should be thanking Nugent for all he's done for our conservative cause.

It doesn't get anymore grass roots than teaching people to hunt, imho. You can bet that's not all he taught them either. I recently read here at FR that Ted gives deer meat to homeless shelters and I watched him in Damn Yankees as he fired flaming arrows into the heart of a Saddam Hussein effigy. Imho, you've got no right calling Ted Nugent a nut job! (Calling him the "Motor City Madman™" is okay.)

"He either doesn't know or doesn't care that the US money tree is provided by taxpaying Americans. Never mind that they have mortgages, bills to pay and children to feed, clothe and educate."

Sounds like Bono would make one helluva Congressman, Senator, or POTUS then...spending Other People's Money is what these utopian "do-gooders" do best!!

Nugent would kick Bono's ass in a heartbeat.

Oh, wait....is this about a future episode of Celebrity Boxing? Well, no matter what the topic, Nugent kicks Bono's ass. (There, that simplifies things!;-)

"No matter how much money you pour into corrupt regimes, they are still nothing more than corrupt regimes"

And no matter how much money you give the poor, they're still poor after they spend it.

In fact, the history of the American welfare state demonstrates that doing this increases poverty, as it amounts to paying people to be poor. Pouing money into corrupt regimes amounts to paying them to be corrupt

I salute him for standing up for what he believes in but I assure you the vast majority see thru his transparent hippie like liberalizm. We already send billions of dollars & gazzilions of tons of relief to Africa & other evil corrupt countries none of which get to the people. remember Bono is the fool who condemend Charlton Heston & the NRA as "murderers" while the gun & bomb bans in his homeland of Ireland & everywhere are so obviously a joke. maybe too many drugs & too many insulated limos. the trick is to counterpunch him with WE THE PEOPLE truth hammers. ya think.

If you'd say "nay", take it up with the man himself.

Oh yeah! Remember that war this country fought over "taxation without represenation?"

Now our "representation" is taxing us heavier than anything King George imposed. They really do think they are royalty!

Our Founding Fathers must be spinning in their graves!

Bono is a socialist imbecile, despite all the hosannas thrown his way due to his rock-star charisma.

His "debate" with O'Neill this week has been most enlightening. Mr O'Neill did a great job of refuting the idea that aid does anything but waste money and promote corruption.

Well, I dunno, "teach a man to fish" and all that...

Build a man a fire, and keep him warm for a day.
Set a man on fire, and keep him warm for the rest of his life...

"Time for me to don my asbestos underwear ... I'm a hunter. I don't think animals have rights, and I don't think that animals should ever come before people. I think Ted Nugent is absolutely the MAN ... This important resource should not be squandered. Ted Nugent is wrong to promote hunting in Africa right now."
Nice to meet you Kevin. You expected a flame, so I'll do my best . . .

After just listening to Ted Nugent talking about his television show, "Spirit of the Wild", and mentioning that he teaches "environmental responsibility" and "resource stewardship" as well as "right over wrong", I get the impression that Ted Nugent, the professional hunter, knows more about hunting in Africa than you; a staff scientist in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pennsylvania.

I'm sure that as a Doctor of Philosophy, and High Energy Physics you are much smarter and well-read than Ted or myself, but, I'm wondering how many months a year you spend in Africa hunting? If it is significantly less than six, you may want to concede that Ted is an expert in this field as you are no doubt an expert in your own, or you may contend that you are an expert in African hunting as well, which I would asume is the "Furnished upon request" part of your resume.

I'm sorry about the above flame - but it's a shame to waste perfectly good asbestos underwear. Waste not, want not, I always say.

Seriously, I don't think that Ted Nugent is squandering anything or "promoting" hunting in Africa as much as he is teaching the locals to understand and respect their environment, use natural resources to their benefit without waste and live in harmony with nature. The people he teaches are not rich tourists on safari for trophies, they are locals who will either learn to hunt and eat, or to live on foreign aid (welfare) from you and I of the type Mr. Bono is advocating.

The beauty of science is that I--or you--don't need to be an expert--or even a practitioner--in a field to know what's going on. In the case of African animal populations, they have been falling precipitously over the last ten years as a result of the bush meat trade. I know that because people devote much effort keeping track of the animals, and publishing their results in peer-reviewed journals. It's the experience and knowledge of those people that I weigh in the balance against Ted Nugent's, not my own.

You are correct about giving venison to the homeless shelters. Nugent is a walking altruist. In fairness to Bono, he too, is a family man, and does not do drugs.
