Report: Chandra's Family Believes Condit Did It

The Chandra Levy murder remains in Wednesday's headlines, mainly because the "whodunit" has a political link.

According to The Hill , a newspaper covering the Capitol, the Levy family considers Rep. Gary Condit -- a California Democrat -- a suspect in Chandra's murder.

Chandra's family mourned her death on Tuesday, just hours after the D.C. medical examiner ruled that the 24-year-old woman had been murdered. Based on the skeletal remains found in a Washington park, however, the medical examiner could not say exactly how she was killed.

According to The Hill , Chandra's family is now redoubling their efforts to link Chandra's death to Condit, who lost the Democratic primary in March - and therefore, will lose his seat in Congress in January.

Condit is "in seclusion," according to his aides.

A Levy family source told The Hill , "We believe that in her final days on this earth that he [Condit] found out that other people knew about the affair, and we believe that he was trying to break off the relationship."

According to the police investigation, Condit's wife Carolyn was in Washington when Chandra disappeared.

Also, another reminder about the Chandra story: remember she also checked her 'map quest' computer for the whereabouts of this park. It doesn't sound to me like she was killed before going there, but was lured there. Nor would she have been killed by some "drive-by mugger" (again, the John Walsh theory).

I think that earlier people thought that the watchbox might have come from Condits office or appartment. It very well could have come from Chandras appartment and that is why he had to get rid of it. He may have been returning from meeting someone who had retrieve it for him when he tossed it in the trash can. HE may have tossed other items at other locations along the way.If true, Virginia might hold more info than originally thought.

"Who cares what happened to Chandra "the tramp" anymore? She was a husband stealing trollup who got in over her head with Gary the womanizer."

That is a horrible thing to say. Sure, what Chandra was doing with Condit was morally wrong, but that certainly isn't an exuse to brush off her murder or to somehow legitimize her unfortunate death.

I'm such a goober.... The meeting was at Cheney's office in the House of Rep!!! A stoopid oversight on my part, but it does give Condit even more unexplained time in which to meet with Chandra.

In a lot of cases, it just takes a strand of hair or a drop of blood, or a partial fingerprint. It's hard for a miscreant not to leave something of himself behind in a criminal case. After reading how Gary scoured his apartment before the police searched it, I'm beginning to wonder if he had anything to do with this. I can't imagine him or his minions leaving behind Chandra's possessions -- leggings, Walkman, whatever.

Well has Juleana Glover Weiss been called before the grand jury?

If Condit only asked for that meeting that day,we can assume he asked for it to make a phoney timeline.

If Cheney wont respond to the Congresses request for "Energy " records, is nfo about this meeting part of that?

Do we come down to Condit cleverly trying to use Cheney in his phoney alibi?

Could Cheney get away with not releasing "when Condit asked for the meeting "because the whole "Energy" thing is tied up in "Court"?

I am right in thinking that the subpeona is not being answered?

It must be hard on the Levys knowing that they had helped to create the career of Congressman Condit and Bill Clinton for that matter -- could this make them question their judgment on other matters? Like how do they "know" Condit is the culprit, if they thought previously that Condit was an ideal congressman? Maybe they can't analyze the situation objectively. Isn't it still true that there is no real evidence that Condit was involved in Miss Levy's disappearance, or am I missing something?

hmmmmm; you're right. Probably nothing (other than a very scared, probably very odd, probably living in a conveinence marriage that needed some repairs, congressman hoping to keep from becomming the media's darling of deviance and the public's new poster boy for sitting out the next election).

Here is an excerpt from the Connie Chung/Condit interview and a link to the rest /of the interview

CHUNG: Uh ... hours before police, DC police searched your apartment, you were seen throwing away a watch box. Um, in a dumpster. Why, why did you do that?

CONDIT: Well, the watch box had nothing to do with Chandra Levy and the police. Know that. The fact of the matter...

CHUNG: (Overlap) But were you trying to cover up a relationship with yet another woman?

CONDIT: Let me finish this. Uh, the watch box had nothing to do with Chandra Levy. The watch box ... uh ... I, I ... I did not take anything out of the apartment before or after the search. The watch box had nothing to do with Chandra Levy at all. It was ... trash that I threw away.

CHUNG: But why did you throw it away hours before the search?

CONDIT: Well, the watch box, uh, I didn't take anything out of the ... my apartment. The search within my apartment. Nothing came out of my apartment before the search or after the search.

CHUNG: Are you saying the watch box was somewhere else?

CONDIT: Yes.

CHUNG: Other than your apartment?

CONDIT: Yes.

CHUNG: So where was it?

CONDIT: It would be in my office.

CHUNG: And so why did you throw it away?

CONDIT: Well, because I was cleaning out my office to be very frankly with you.

CHUNG: But why throw it in a dumpster uh, somewhere, instead of just throwing it in the trash can in your office?

CONDIT: Well, the fact of the matter is the watch box had nothing to do with Chandra Levy. And the police department know this.

CHUNG: Don't you think it's rather suspicious behavior though to throw a watch box in a dumpster?

CONDIT: Well, first of all, I did not throw it in a dumpster. I threw it in a trash can on a street, understanding that the tabloids are going through every bit of my trash at my office, going through things in my office, trying to get things out of my office. It was trash. I threw it away.

CHUNG: But ... I mean, if, if there was nothing to it ... so what if, if uh, the tabloids would find it? If there was nothing ... who gave it to you?

CONDIT: Well, there was nothing to it.

CHUNG: Who gave it to you?

CONDIT: (Overlap) It was a gift.

CHUNG: From?

CONDIT: It was a gift.

CHUNG: A woman in the office who worked in your office?

CONDIT: Years ago.

CHUNG: And did you have a relationship with her?

CONDIT:

I did not.

Being upset that they supported condit is the least of the things they have on their minds right now, it may bother them someday, but not now.

Do they have evidence? I don't know what they have other than the fact that they were lovers & he has acted as guilty as sin.

"Condit's wife Carolyn was in Washington"

Hmmm?? And ... I still believe she did it and Condit helped her hide the body and dispose of it.

However, I do think it could have been a terrible accident, but since they hid the body - it's too late for accidental death now.

I was watching Greta go after Geragos. I think she read dogbyte12's posts and questions.

If I'm not mistaken, Geragos used the term "alibi" when discussing the yet unseen 'new' timeline. Geragos is good at acting like nothing happened and saying that we should be pursuing the Albert and Ingmar timelines with equal diligence.

I believe Greta said something like, "You [Geragos] could get rid of me in a New York minute if you showed me/us a timeline where Condit can account for his time after 12:50 pm."

She is persistent, I give her that.

Oh good. I actually was looking for you to let you know that your prediction that Geragos would NOT clear up the timeline was coming true on Greta's show (what a surprise). Greta did not let him off easy IMO.
