Please check out Charlie Rice's program with Peter Jennings. It is playing right now where I am. UGH
Charlie and Jennings are talking about the Drug companies and why they don't pursue new drugs (Jennings did a show on this topic) and Rice asks why companies are not pursuing new drugs.
Jennings replies, (paraphrasing) "it is partly the fault of the Congress, and I am not going to say the President dropped the ball on this, but he should pick the ball up."
Okay, like GW hasn't had anything on his agenda.

Is this the new Hillary-type attack on GW or what? A disclaimer prior to a slam. What CRAP. And yes, I know I shouldn't even have listened to the socialist Jennings but I just had to know what the liberal camp was up to.
And the absolute fawning Charlie is doing makes one want to spew.........

Jennings should take a research degree in pharmacy or a similar field and develop such drugs. Or, maybe with his many millions he should finance research and a drug company. With his genius it would be a snap.

Or else he could just do a show on the number of new pharmaceuticals invented and brought to market in Canada and the EU.
Short program.

The failure of drug companies to pursue new drugs in certain areas (where they would compete with existing patents, or not be patentable, or would lead to rapid cures that don't require chronic consumption) is a big problem. Lots of economic externalities that suggest that the market system might be in a state of public policy failure there that need to be addressed. The WSJ had a series of articles on it, which I suspect is what Jennings is keying off on. Neither party has had this on the radar screen really, so if Jennings dumped on Bush, that is rather unfair of him.

Why are all of these so called journalists getting so bad about letting their political bias show? What is up with the networks not reigning them in for this garbage?
Certainly we all know they are leftist, but you would think the networks would at least attempt to make these jerks show a little bit of journalist restraint!

Well....since Brian Williams is taking over Dan Brokaw's place....maybe things will change? (YEah, right!)

Jennings is a Canadian.
That is, a Socialist.
And in his case particularly, a condescending biased piece of shitake.

Did you hear Charlie gushing about how the country
needs the news anchors especially in times of crisis?
It seems Jennings and Brokaw were at the White House having lunch with the Prez when the Challenger exploded. Jennings and Charlie giggled like a couple of besotted teenagers at the idea of rubbing shoulders with the President. And these are the people who are supposed to be objective? Unbelievable

Please correct Charlie "Rose" in the title. Thanks.

So tomorrow, just for chuckles, call up your local PBS station, and ask 'em when they provide balance, equal-time, opposing views or fairness?
The silence on the other end of the phone is priceless...

Contrast this to their answers to " if you had information that would prevent American soldiers from walking into an ambush, would you tell the Americans or would your journalistic neutrality stop you?"
They all claim neutrality.

A dose of tort reform couldn't hurt. If drug companies weren't such juicy targets for the trial lawyers, there would be all kinds of new drugs.

That Moron Bill Maher had Alec Baldface liar on last night to trash the Pres. I can't wait to see Maher gone, hate the stupid look on his face. Baldwin is just pure garbage.

I watched ABC back in the days when the Challenger exploded. Jennings was on the air within one minute of its occurrence. I do not believe that he was at the White House because I distinctly remember the ABC background in use during this event. I do not recall if he broadcast from NY or DC but he was the face and voice of ABC that minute.

What I can't understand is how the show survived so long. It certainly does not approach anything that could be termed "thoughtful" or "enlightening". My theory about the reason for its longevity is that people get to see their favorite Hollywood types in a much different, unscripted, setting. The problem is that it is a forum which gives the actors an air of legitimacy, and the great unwashed use it as a source to form their and justify their wrongheaded views on politics, foreign affairs, and current events.
To give the devil his due, I thought Baldwin was good in "The Hunt for Red October". But, it will be a cold day before I see another film he is in, for the same reasons that I will never watch anything that Jane Fonda is associated with.
After seeing Ben Affleck(sp?) spout his inane drivel, I am inclined to boycott "The Sum of All Fears", but my wife said I would be terribly lonely.
Isn't Baldwin the one that said he would leave the country if GWB were elected? Last night, did anyone ask why he is still here? If I were there, that would be my first question.

AMEN!! I saw that roundtable "Ethics in Journalsm" (HAHAHAHHA) and Mike Wallace and Jennings were TRAITORS...ESPECIALLY WALLACE! Jennings just followed the commie's lead. They said they would NOT tell our guys if the enemy were on the next hill... The Brass on the show were apoplectic....understandabl so!
