Amnesty Int'l: human rights violated across Middle East

Amnesty International, releasing its annual report for 2001 yesterday, accused Israel of unlawfully killing hundreds of Palestinians and said the Palestinian Authority had arrested hundreds of people for their political opinions, with torturing apparently widespread.

In dry language, the report on Israel noted: "More than 460 Palestinians were killed during 2001 by the Israeli security forces; most were unlawfully killed. Among the victims were 79 children and 32 individuals targeted for assassination. More than 2,000 Palestinians were arrested for security reasons. There were widespread reports of police brutality. Palestinian detainees frequently reported that they were tortured or ill-treated during interrogation.

"At the end of the year at least 40 people were under administrative detention. At least 33 conscientious objectors were imprisoned during 2001. Hundreds of Palestinians from the Occupied Territories were tried before military courts in trials whose procedures fell short of international standards. Collective punishments against Palestinians included closures of towns and villages, demolition of more than 350 Palestinian homes and prolonged curfews," the report said.

As for abuses by Palestinians, the 42-year-old rights watchdog noted, "Palestinian armed groups killed 187 Israelis, including 154 civilians.

"Hundreds of people, including prisoners of conscience, were arrested for political reasons during 2001. Those arrested included people suspected of 'collaborating' with the Israeli authorities and suspected members of armed opposition groups. Reports of torture and ill-treatment were widespread. Three people died in custody. Twelve people were sentenced to death and two people were executed."

When are the Israelis going to stop violating the rights of the poor law abiding, harmless, unarmed Palestinians????!!!!????

Thank goodness we have Amenesty International to write reports about these horrifying human rights violations.

No mention of homicide bombings and maimed and murdered Israeli civilians? I'm shocked, shocked.

This is just the latest rash of atrocities.

I understand the Jews also murdered millions of Nazi children in the 40s, not to mention their pets.

No mention of Palestinian leaders encouraging Palestinian teenagers to tie dynamite to their bodies and explode themselves in Israeli shopping malls? "It's all about the children."

As usual, Amnest Int'l has nothing to say about Pallie homicide bombers blowing up a baby and a grandmother. AI's activities need some good hard scrutiny. They're aiding terrorists. Yes, I consider propaganda providing aid and comfort to the enemy. I'd love to find a way to put them in jail.

Seems to me the Palestinians killed over 460 Israelis, and they were all innocent. (Not to mention the 4,000+ who have been wounded.)

AI's activities need some good hard scrutiny. They're aiding terrorists.

Amnesty International has been aiding muslim expansionists and terrorists in Bosnia and Kosovo, and they still aid and abet the illegitmate occupation and islamization of these two Yugoslav territories. Now they--and the rest of the phony human rightser crew--are aiding in the muslim conquest of FYR Macedonia.

The whole sick human rightser cabal serve as known agents of the New World Order empire in the Balkans. Their statements and actions in the Holy Land are right in character. How DISGUSTING to take a noble concept like human rights and turn it inside out to serve the NWO and their muslim attack dogs!!!!

I'd like to see the FBI get after these bastards, but they're probably afraid to for PC reasons. Can't touch the sacred liberal institutions that are out to surrender our nation to be carved up by the commies and muslims. It might offend somebody!

Texas must recognize that the brutal practice of executing children is in complete and utter defiance of international law," said Sue Gunawardena-Vaught, director of Amnesty International USA's Program to Abolish the Death Penalty.

I wonder what she thinks of pedestian mall and pizza parlor executions of women and children? What about Shalhevet Pass?

I have a question for everybody: okay, so this article was spiked from Breaking News, but why was my subtitle removed? I almost always put subtitles. Since when is that not okay?

I don't see why your story was spiked from Breaking News considering the garbage that resides there right now, including:

1) Israeli Transportation Minister approves plan for world s first airborne casino

2)'Tull's Tawkin' about IMMIGRATION - tonight, Tuesday May 28, 2002

3) Brian Williams to replace Tom Brokaw after the 2004 Elections

4)Bomb squad detonated device in Minneapolis [That turned out to be a pair of tennis shoes]

5) Power Traders Deny Enron-Style Trading; Many Point to Cal-ISO [Why the hell is anything and everything about Enron Breaking News?!]

6) " King Karl Gets Ready" or Howie 'The Weasel' Fineman Gets Nervous About 2004 [Some schmuck writing an article in Newsweek making fun of Bush is Breaking News?!]

7) FBI set to unveil reorganization plans [The FBI announcing that they are changing their office symbols and re-arranging their organizational charts is Breaking News?!]

Moderators: If the Breaking News sidebar needs to be cleaned up, then fine, do it. But some uniform standards should be applied. There are 4-day-old stories and stories that turned out to be nothing that are still there. And anything and everything about Enron is NOT breaking news.

Oh yeah, thank god for Amnesty Int'l, the sacred racist cow of the left! Of course, they are totally silent about the slaughter of 2 million people in the Sudan where the moslem government actively kills, murders, and gang rapes black women, while they clear all those living around rich oil deposits. Meanwhile, those mighty defenders of civil rights, the democrats went to sleep while a bill was set to be passed banning slavery in the Sudan Peace Act! Oh yeah, bring on all those staunch defenders of individual freedom. The Senate Republicans were left high and dry in their support while Daschle fiddled.

Text of email sent just now to AI-USA.

This week the state of New York announced that it would require all medical students to participate in training in abortion. This is without a doubt the number one human rights violation of my lifetime. What is the position of AI regarding abortion? What steps is your organization taking to end this horrendous activity?
I have searched your web site, and find you are quite silent on this issue. There can be no neutrality on this issue...the most dangerous place in the United States of America is the mother's womb. Millions of babies have been murdered each year since Roe v Wade. It is my judgment that the State of New York could be charged with being an accessory to murder, mandating the training of doctors to take innocent lives.

I am concerned that their hypocrisy is glaring through. Just watched their C-SPAN presw conference. Noone asked this question, and they certainly didn't report on it.
