"I have great respect for this institution. Unfortunately, I think Tom Daschle and the Democrats are denigrating the institution."

Nickles better be careful. He's liable to be accused of racism for this quote.

Every thing she does or says is very calculated...for her run for the Presidency. I'm betting 2004. J Edwards and T Daschle have already suffered foot-in-mouth; D Gephardt is too stiff and unexciting; A Gore is a has-been. HillC is currently working behind the scenes to build up her coalition, re-energize the old Clinton machine, and discredit her Democrat competition.

Can you explain why you think Senator Nickles quote could be considered racism? Denigrating means to defame or belittle which seems to fit what the DemocRATS and daschle are doing to the Senate!

If she doesn't get it together for 2004, expect her to run for sure in 2008! Believe they will rerun Gore in 2004 as a throw-away candidate from everything that is out there. I don't think she wants to go against Pres Bush so I predict 2008! Look to see more clintonites run for office in 2004/2006 to try and build up her base in the States which makes defeating the clintonites that are running a priority!

BTW -- if Sen Nickles decides not to run in 2004, I predict that Cong J.C. Watts (R-OK) will be the next Senator from Oklahoma!

Great post, but if one were to read only the headline one might think that Sen. Nickles was criticizing us for attacking Clinton (forgot that on between Clinton and attacks). (^:
The press is spending its time digging through President Bush's trash can and neglecting.....

A List of the Democrat Morons who are blasting Bush and how they voted for Intelligence Budget Cuts

Clainton Balked at Sudan offer to Arrest bin Laden:
MORE EVIDENCE OF CLINTON'S FAILURE: Fascinating report in the left-wing British paper, the Observer, about the extent of the Clinton administration's responsibility for hobbling our intelligence operations in the last ten years. Vast files of intelligence from Sudan, specifically about Osama bin Laden, were simply ignored or spurned by Clinton officials. According to the Observer, "One senior CIA source admitted last night: 'This represents the worst single intelligence failure in this whole terrible business. It is the key to the whole thing right now. It is reasonable to say that had we had this data we may have had a better chance of preventing the attacks.' He said the blame for the failure lay in the 'irrational hatred' the Clinton administration felt for the source of the proffered intelligence - Sudan, where bin Laden and his leading followers were based from 1992-96. He added that after a slow thaw in relations which began last year, it was only now that the Sudanese information was being properly examined for the first time." Quick, Sandy. Better leak something to the New York Times to spin this one away.

Clinton CYAing
Get Ready for 20 WTC Bombings, detailed Emerson piece on Muslim militants in America, 1997.
Terrorist Push Plots from American Jail, Ramsey Clark's client, key figure in Osama's terrorist network, issued fatwa, support for strikes against Americans from jail...1998:
That move was made, in part, because of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind spiritual leader of Egypt's largest terrorist organization who was sentenced to life in prison for several violent plots, according to Justice Department sources.

Rahman allegedly has issued several statements from prison despite scrutiny by authorities. They included two last summer in which he withdrew support for his terrorist group's cease-fire in Egypt.

According to court testimony, Rahman, who also is a key figure for Osama bin Laden's terrorist network, issued a fatwa, or holy decree, from prison approving strikes against Americans. The decree reportedly was given to an Al Qaeda member training at a camp in Afghanistan in late 1998......

.....Sixteen days into the sentence, his defense lawyer, former U.S. Atty. Gen. Ramsey Clark, pressed the warden to grant Rahman broad freedoms, citing Rahman's status as an international Muslim leader. In a letter dated Feb. 2, 1996, Clark wrote Warden Patrick Keohane that Rahman should be allowed to communicate with his followers worldwide via direct conversations with "Islamic scholars, mosques and Muslim leaders."

The request was rejected, though Rahman still had some telephone privileges, records show.

In the months that followed, Rahman allegedly abused those privileges by calling people with whom he was allowed to speak only to have them patch the calls to others, records show.

Senator Nickles is right on target. Glad he said what urgently needed to be said. We cannot investigate just one man who inherited one hell of a big mess after Clinton finally left office.

Washington career ended for saying 'niggardly'

Electronic Telegraph

Thursday 28 January 1999 Hugo Gurdon

A GOVERNMENT employee in Washington has been forced from office because he used the word "niggardly", which colleagues wrongly presumed was a variant of "nigger".

David Howard, director of the District of Columbia's constituent services office, who is white, told staff he was niggardly over his administration of a fund. When he realised two black staff were offended he apologised, but his head had to roll.

Word spread that Mr Howard had said "nigger" and the rumour mill did not stop until it had wrecked his career. He said: "I would never think of making a racist remark. I regret that the word I did use offended anyone." The word "niggardly" comes from the Middle English nig, meaning miser; "nigger" comes from the Latin niger, meaning black.

Nevertheless, Mr Howard agrees that his chosen locution undermined his ability to work within the DC government, particularly at a time when the new mayor, Anthony Williams, is under assault from critics for a failure of "loyalty" to his race, who form the majority of citizens in the capital. The Washington Post recently published an article wondering whether Mr Williams was "black enough".

He's going to wait and see how the water feels by stinking his toe in at a later date.........

Nickles said the status of Republicans in the Senate, whether or not they're in the majority, will be a factor in his decision about future campaigns.

"I may not" run again, he said. "I don't know for sure. It kind of depends what the status is in the Senate. I'll take a look at it then.

My feelings about our response to September 11th's terrorist attacks is pride that the United States reacted as quickly as we did. All air traffic was shut down right away which I am sure spoiled a few (or maybe several) other little surprises that the terrorists had planned for us that day.
