Peacenik Jew Marries Arab
ontroversial Brooklyn peace activist Adam Shapiro married the "enemy" yesterday.
Shapiro, a Jew who has been an outspoken critic of the Israeli invasion of the West Bank, tied the knot with longtime love Huwaida Arraf a Palestinian peace activist from Detroit.
The couple he is 30, she is 26 were married in a Catholic ceremony at a Detroit-area church. The location was kept secret because Shapiro and his family in Sheepshead Bay have received death threats from angry Jews. More than 200 people attended the nuptials.
Shapiro traded his trademark grubby T-shirt and bandanna for a black tuxedo. The bride was radiant in a full-length white gown. The newlyweds met while working for a group that promotes cultural understanding between Jews and Palestinians.
The Shapiros, who live in Ramallah, will be honeymooning in the war-torn West Bank.

I think the wife is Catholic

She apparently doesn't understand that as soon the Muslim Palestinians have completely free reign in the West Bank, any religion except their brand of Islam will be forbidden. And as for Shapiro, he will have served his usefulness and will no longer be welcome at that time.

A lot of Palestinian Christians have fled the country. Indeed, the number of "muslims" in the US is inflated because some assume that every Iraqi/Iranina/Palestinian/Egyptian/Lebanese immigrant are Muslims. Many are Christians, often Orthodox, or Marianite Catholics.

All they have to do is look at what happened Lebanon since the Taaif agreement ... Christian population dropped from 80% to 20% ... 500,000 new Syrian settlers, etc.
To: LadyDoc
Excellent point. Those Christians who have lived with and seen the fundamentalist Muslims and who then fled to the US will be a great ally to us, for they know the evil first hand.

that gives clearity to the whole situation

Are either or both of them Catholic? I believe that one must be, and both must promise to raise their kids as catholics.
To: Sci Fi Guy
My understanding is that they must also undergo a church-approved nuptial training and that the non-Catholic must also promise to practice Catholicism, in addition to raising the children to be Catholic.
However, a bishop can make an exception to any or all church requirements, and in the US frequently does. IOW, the catechism as concerning Catholic marriage has become an optional afterthought.
To: The Bored One
Unfortunately, Christian middle-easterners are on the bubble right now -- thought of by Americans as just other Muslims (who are viewed as anti-American in general, if not downright extremest or fanatical), and rejected by practicing Muslims as traitors and infidels who should be shunned or eliminated (if they could get away with it). Consequently, do not expect these people to come forward in any great numbers -- they, understandably, are worried about their own survival in a land not their own.
Nice to see the usual Zionist fanatical hatred on display as per usual, here on "Free" Republic.
To: Sci Fi Guy
Thank you, that was what I thought. Although with everything going on in the Catholic Church today, perhaps a Jew and a Muslim being married in a Catholic ceremony wouldn't be so strange after all!

I have heard Adam Shapiro on the radio and he's just a smug, slinky, evasive wise guy. I wonder who pays him for what he does. How amusing that this Jew marries his Palestinian girlfriend in a Catholic church in Detroit. (I have no clue if his wife if Christian or Muslim.)Both will soon go back to the West Bank to help the Muslims in the propaganda department in their Jihad against Israel.

The Shapiros, who live in Ramallah, will be honeymooning in the war-torn West Bank. You know, no matter what his politics are, he's still a Jew--living in Ramallah, for Pete's sake. When the jihadis come for him, they won't care if he's married to an Arab or if his politics are left of Ho Chi Minh. To them, he'll just be a Jew... like his mother and his father.

You raised some very interesting issues. I had assumed all along that the finace was Moslem. Now, I 'm slapping myself. Of course, she couldn't be Moslem -- Shapiro's "allies" would have skinned him alive on the Temple Mount for laying hands on their "property" (and you thought slavery had been abolished!).
And yet, I thought that racial socialists all hated Catholicism, as the symbol of white male patriarchy. Maybe in the territories, Shapiro is able to dodge such issues; all he's got to do is publicly curse the Jews five times a day, and everyone loves him.
As for the wife, she apparently labors under a delusion similar to that of her husband: that the Arabs are still going to respect her the morning after.
