Tancredo Outraged at Another Mexican Border Incursion
U.S. Border Patrol Agent Details Mexican Military Incursion Outside Ajo, Arizona
WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-CO) today announced that he has learned of another incursion along the U.S. Mexico border near Ajo, Arizona. According to a U.S. Border Patrol Agent, the Tohono Oodham Police Department encountered a Mexican military incursion on Friday, May 17, 2002 at approximately 8:30PM along the Santa Cruz trail inside the Papago Farms border patrol area, just south of Forest Road 21.
"I cannot in good conscience stand by and watch another incursion along our border take place," said Tancredo. "Unless we open our eyes and recognize that whats happening along the U.S. Mexico border is real, one of our guys is going to get killed.
"Everyone keeps claiming that these "incursions" dont take place, that people are just getting lost, and the whole idea of incursions is erroneous. Unless the U.S. and Mexican government admits these incursions exist and take action to stop them, then an international incident, in my opinion, is foreseeable," concluded Tancredo.
The U.S. Border Patrol Agent, who wishes to remain anonymous, informed Rep. Tancredo during a phone conversation that approximately five miles north of the U.S./Mexico border, one the "GS-11" agents out of the Ajo border patrol station noticed a military helicopter flying overhead, heading south towards Mexico. Shortly thereafter, he came upon a humvee, which not only began to approach him, but to fire upon his vehicle. According to the agents testimony, the vehicles rear window and back drivers side windows were destroyed. Fortunately, the agent was able to flee the incursion unharmed and concluded the conversation by stating, "As far as I am concerned, that [incursion] should be an act of war."
On May 3, 2002, Rep. Tancredo issued a letter to Mexican President Vicente Fox to reveal the "incursions" made by members of the Mexican Army and law enforcement agencies onto American soil. Rep. Tancredo never received a response from President Fox.

You know, they're not citizens, so does the protection of the law and the Constitution really apply to them?

Does anybody seriously think the Mexican army is invading the U.S.? No, but the Mexican people are invading the U.S. Apparently now with a little help from the Mexican army.

I presume this the same guy Karl Rove tried to intimidate when he (Tancredo) spoke out a couple of weeks ago.I've never seen a Tancredo quote saying that he was threatened by Rove -- got one?

Another Mexican Border Incursion and not a word from Jorge Bush. It's beginning to look as if our leadership doesn't mind that our sovereignty is being challenged by some funky, vile little communist cesspool like Mexico. Very aggravating indeed. Unacceptable, too.

"Karl Rove, the president's top political adviser, called Tancredo to complain that he did not understand the president's position." You're quotes are the newspapers words. They are not the quotes of the newspaper quoting Tancredo's actual words. Where are Tancredo's quotes saying that he was threatened?

And to carry it a bit further, these Mexican troops have weapons and probably other goodies in their vehicles. They drive humvees, and they are nice vehicles. I don't know. I think that if I were a Mexican troop, I would be a little hesitant to cross the border into a country where there are lots and lots of guns in the hands of civilians.

Calvary Ho? Based on a phone call by a "U.S. Border Patrol Agent, who wishes to remain anonymous"? Someone's been watching too much cable tv. It's worse then that. The anonymous "Border Patrol Agent" does not even say who in the police department told him. So it is an anonymous source of an anonymous source.

There's a whole heck of a lot of drugs coming across that border, just check out what the cops catch and then multiply greatly what gets across. The Mexican military has always been known to get payouts whether drugs or transporting people across the border, either looking the other way or in some way assisting. Things are heating up incredibly in the border towns, they've literally had enough of having their property destroyed, their livestock killed. Been to a quaint little border town -- check out Douglas, AZ, everyone there has bars on their windows and doors -- it's just a small cowboy town. The boys down there also really believe in the 2nd Amendment and a serious problem could present itself if one of these incursions would come about between a US citizen and the Mexican military, the US citizens down there won't be turning and running the other direction.

That's the only reference I have regarding any disagreements between Rove and Tancredo. Maybe someone else has one that implies a threat. I haven't found one.

May I please be added to your ping list.
I just got lost on FR.
Why did they delete the earlier article from the May 25th Arizona Republic???
Mexico: Migrants Priority After November Election
I'm in Arizona where this is going on.
Glad I printed out the first 20 comments. I don't usually do that. Does anyone remember something about a conference in Phoenix in June?
This stinks.

That being the problem of the Mexican LEO protecting the drug smugglers. Bill O'Reilly promised Tancredo he would report any further news on this matter.

Immigration and border concerns are expected to be a high priority during the
20th Border Governors Conference in June in Phoenix, bringing together representatives from the four U.S. border states and their six Mexican counterparts.
The U.S. government still sees U.S.-Mexican relations as important, but a spokesman did not see any connection to the November election.
"Our overall priorities have not shifted," said Charles Barclay, spokesman for the State Department's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. "It's not a question of waiting after our elections. It's a complex issue and one that will take time to work out. There's no arbitrary deadline here."
Here's the whole article.

"I would be a little hesitant to cross the border into a country where there are lots and lots of guns in the hands of civilians." Instead, they drive into a land where there are lots and lots of lawyers (look in your yellow pages, is there a larger grouping?)
To: D-fendr
Their not invading the U.S. but as corrupt as Mexico is they are probably escorting drug smugglers across the border.
