You bet. Where is that fool who is asking us to beg President Bush to get this apparent criminal released?

Thanks for posting this. Hopefully it will bring the "Bring Ted Maher home" threads to a merciful end.

Er, this story is VASTLY different from the "stuff" that someone has been putting up here for months, calling the guy a war hero, etc.

Don't know whom to believe, but this just reminds me why I'm so skeptical of so much that I read.

And when there is a HUGE drumbeat of support for someone (or some cause) here on FR, led by people you don't even see post on any other threads, my SuspiciOMeter goes right into the red zone.

We didn't start the fire
it was always burning
Since the world been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tired to fight it

Birth control, Ho Chi Minh, Richard Nixon back again
Moonshot, Woodstock, Watergate, Punkrock
Begin, Reagan, Palestine, Terror on the airline
Ayatollah's in Iran, Russians in Afghanistan

Sorry a lil Billy Joel sprang to mind for some unknown reason.=o)

So, in summary:

Mr. Maher's defense was that there was no criminal intent. Does this mean that he admits lighting the fire, intending to rescue the occupants? In the US, that would be criminally negligent homicide, since it would be reasonably foreseeable that the fire could get out of control.

But, it appears that Monaco's idea of due process doesnt include all the formalities ours does. But due process appears to still be there.

Let Monaco do what they will; this certainly doesnt look like the issue Bush should spend our nation's diplomatic and political capital on. The dude appears guilty.
