"King RAT?": GOP candidate's campaign video depicts GA governor Barnes as giant rat

(Atlanta-AP) -- A campaign video released by GOP gubernatorial hopeful Sonny Perdue depicts Governor Barnes as a giant rat.

The video is called ``A New Day Dawning: One man's lust for power drives another man to set Georgia free.''

It will be sent in limited release to Republican supporters and be available free on Perdue's Web site. Parts of the video may be used for TV commercials.

In the ten-minute video, Barnes wears a crown, gnaws at the state Capitol and climbs Atlanta skyscrapers. He is also shown stuffing himself with wine and fruit at the governor's mansion.

Several minutes into the video, Perdue is introduced as a Bonaire farmer who wants to bring an outside voice to Atlanta politics.

The video ends with two heavy-hitters from state GOP endorsing Perdue -- former state Attorney General Mike Bowers and U-S Representative Charlie Norwood.

Barnes campaign manager Tim Phillips said ``this shameful display of bad judgement is sad and disappointing.''

Perdue still must defeat two Republican challengers before taking on the governor.

The great thing about using a rat to represent a RAT is that the symbol was self chosen by their own dishonest tactics. In an effort to slam Bush the RAT media went on and on and on about the subliminal message in a Bush ad. hahaha....can you say "backfire"! The term "RAT" for DemocRATs went mainstream and it's their own doing. hahahaha!

us non-metro atlanta georgians don't want to pay for, and subsidize, any more of atlanta's pork-barrel projects

You tell it brother!

We coastal GA freepers need to think of a project so that the Atlanta people don't have ALL the fun!

I'm not sure - how many of us ARE there between Savannah and Brunswick? I think there are several people in the Savannah area, but I'm not sure how many south of there.
