Excellent news.

This makes me very happy!

the investigation establishes a violation of a federal statute has occurred . . . by the NEA? Inconceivable. Those wonderful professionals who teach our children wouldn't do that! I'm shocked--shocked!! </sarcasm>

The union's policy was designed to harass teachers of all faiths, attorneys representing the objectors said. "The NEA union's illegal scheme is intended to force teachers of faith to shut up and pay up," said Stefan Gleason, vice president of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, a Virginia-based nonprofit group that represented the objectors.
This is good news. Will it go even further into the realm of NEA and GLSEN?

On the form, union officials asked what Mr. Robey called "probing personal questions" about his relationship with God and his religious affiliation. They also required him to obtain a signature from a religious official attesting to the validity of his beliefs. The NEA wants to take the place of God for the children whose families worship Him. They want to establish a completely new morality, and to prosyletize your children into accepting it. They want to marginalize, intimidate and embarrass those who do have sincerely held religious beliefs. Their new morality is based on teaching that abortion is 'good,', that any kind of perverted sexual behavior is 'good,' that there is no absolute right and wrong, that anyone's beliefs (except those who are traditionally religious) are acceptable. They are aiming for a Godless, genderless, sexually promiscuous and perverted, baby-killing-loving society. And even if your kids are home-schooled or protected from this, they will still be adversely affected as they grow up and raise their own children. This needs to be fought will tenacity, skill and compassion. I am grateful that the Bush Adm. has entered this battle on the right side.

Of course the National "Edukashun" Association is hostile to teachers with religious beliefs. The pattern of harrassment is designed to force most teachers to give up their objections, and in the meantime to keep the $400 per year flowing into the union coffers. And from there, the money flows into Democratic campaign coffers. If this ruling is made nationwide, and 100,000 religiously-oriented public school teachers take advantage of it, that will mean $40 million dollars stripped from the hands of the NEA. That is a good start, at least.
