Well....the good news is Cornyn has improved slightly....in the last 2 polls he was behind Kirk.
Latest Poll by Montgomery & Associates (D) on TX senate race
John Cornyn (R) 46%, Ron Kirk (D) 44%............

From nationaljournal.com.....Previous polls on TX.......
SO far we have only seen RAT polls............ I would love to see a INDPT poll on this race.

BLUM & WEPRIN ( They work mostly for Rats )

A Blum and Weprin poll, conducted 4/1-4/02 for the Dallas Morning News; surveyed 1,679 registered voters; margin of error +/- 2.5% (Hotline sources, 4/15). Tested: ex-Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk (D) and Attorney General John Cornyn (R).

General election matchup:

Kirk 43%
Cornyn 39
Undec. 16 BENNETT PETTS BLUMENTHAL (D)

A Bennett Petts Blumenthal (D) poll, conducted 3/24-27/02, surveyed 800 registered voters; margin of error +/- 3.5% (release, 4/15). Tested: ex-Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk (D) and Attorney General John Cornyn (R).

General election matchup:
Kirk 43%
Cornyn 41
Undec. 16

Thank you for the ping, KQQL. I agree with Coop that the polls show a big gap between Cornyn and Perry. I think the average voter, being relatively uninformed politically, is still at the point of not knowing which candidate is the Pubbie and which is the Rat in the Senate race, while I think most voters know by now who's who in the gub. race. Also, Perry may benefit more than Cornyn from association with Bush. The numbers in the Senate race will change and hopefully Cornyn will gain support. BTW, have you seen the new Perry TV ad? Not very memorable, but it did point out that Sanchez went negative first.

WASHINGTON - Democratic Senate nominee Ron Kirk said Monday that although he probably would have backed President Bush's tax cut last year, he now thinks it might need to be scaled back because of the terrorist attacks.

Gov. Rick Perry enjoys a commanding 25-point lead over Democratic challenger Tony Sanchez in a matchup sharply divided along racial lines, according to a new poll of likely voters.

No kidding!
